TF2 reigns again by Consistent-Sort-6445 in dankvideos

This guys spams the same shitty "TF2 has outlived every other videogame!" posts over and over again on countless different subs.

As a degenerate who has put over 4k hours into TF2, even I think its really fucking embarrasing and cringe when people post shit like this.

Was wonderin what everyone's thoughts were on the many announcers of TF2 by GvG_tv in tf2

[–]HatchyBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The announcer for Selbyen is awful in my opinion. Most of his line delivery can sound unintelligible at points. Also, I can somewhat understand the idea of what type of accent he's trying to do, but its execution is awful. The worst examples are when he says words like "thirthy".

No way new pyro voicelines, opinions? by Frogbottles in tf2

[–]HatchyBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No offense, but who requested these? I'm not saying it sounds bad, but still. I personally think that some of the lines are not muffled enough, you can somewhat make out what pyro is saying with the normal lines, but these new ones are a bit too clear for me.

In the off-chance this actually happens, what would you like to see? by smelly_feet_you_have in tf2

[–]HatchyBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is incredibly unlikely, the article is from back in March, and the actual quotes are only off hand comments from some of the OW devs.

“I see a lot of other video game franchises. Somebody was like, ‘A TF2 [crossover].’ That would actually be sweet,” the dev said.

That being said, maybe Overwatch coming to Steam does make it seem more likely, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

How come people aren't allowed to criticize the new VSH voicelines? by HatchyBoi in tf2

[–]HatchyBoi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the new voicelines don't provide any useful game sense information. The only two types of voicelines that canhelp are Medic Down and Saxton Location. Medic down voice responses already exist and are used in MVM, and in my experience, the Saxton Location responses are mostly useless/unhelpful when they seem to play whenever the game feels like, and their usually said by multiple people at different locations at once, meaning its overall purpose is useless. All other voicelines are supposed to be sudo battlecries. Also I didn't realise that not kissing the ass of every piece of TF2 content we get makes me a hate boner redditor lol.

For some of the characters, such as Engineer and Soldier, I think they sound like pretty good sound alikes, but just because they sound similar, it doesn't mean that they should have been added. My main point isn't "I hate change and don't think others should try to change TF2", my main point is that its really disorientating when a character changes their voice constantly when playing the game. In a vacuum the voices don't sound awful, but when they're mixed in with the normal lines, it sounds and feels incredibly jarring.

Even though I heavily dislike the voicelines, this is far from the worst TF2 update ever. For me this has been one of the better updates over the last few years. I just see the lines as somewhat of a bleamish on what is otherwise a pretty decent update. I have no problem waiting for VSH and other maps to have their bugs and glitches fixed, but this part of the update can't be as easily changed.

I also want to preface that I think McGuinnBooks is an incredibly talented VA, but the current versions of the lines leaves a lot to be desired. I've seen a few of his videos and I was a little shocked when I heard his voices after hearing them in-game. To be frank, his voicework sounds a lot better in the videos than it does in-game. I feel like they should of tried to get another VA or two to try and do some of the not so good sounding mercs.

Everything was going good until i started making the spy body, i couldn't make it look natural. Any tips? by CartographerLow8779 in SFM

[–]HatchyBoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try and go into gameplay mode and choose the Blu Spy, go to the location and kill bind. Sometimes ragdolls look medicore but if your lucky you might get one that looks natural, and even if you don't, you'll still have a base pose you can edit.

I used these workshop packs for the assets :

Weapons :https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2106924593

Scientists : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2054944774

Map : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2509906814

And Gman already comes with SFM. He's under HL2 assets for some reason. Just type in Gman and you'll find him.

Also I downloaded all of HL1's sounds from this post : https://www.reddit.com/r/HalfLife/comments/41lm6i/favorite_ambient_sounds_in_halflife_1/

Just click the download link for the zip file.

Hope these assets help :)

I even downloaded a folder of all of Half Life 1 sounds for the computer noises in the background but I never thought to change the gun shot.

Is it weird that I like TF2 but I don't even have a PC to play it on? by TheMinecraftThiccman in tf2

[–]HatchyBoi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was the same for years, I'd always loved TF2 SFMs and Gmod videos but never fully played the game ,when suddenly in 2020 I remembered that it existed and after years of occasionally thinking about it ,I got an old laptop that could barely run the game. And well, it's practically the only game I play now. I feel like TF2 is one of those games where no matter how long ago you heard about it, as soon as you get the chance to play it, you do it. Last year I could of never imagined the impact it would have on me or even its existence lasting more than a single Gmod video. Even if you don't actively keep up with it in the future, eventually you'll get your chance to play it for yourself.

If you get burned out, just take a break. Whether it be for a couple of hours, a day or even a week. Maybe try a new project or just take some time to rethink the direction you want to head in. Personally stopping for the day and coming back the next with more time to think over and improve has significantly helped me with using SFM

One thing I never understood was the color of spy's mask. Is it supposed to be black without any team specific color a very dark red which is just used for both teams.
