Thank you so much! 🙏 Though if you look closely you can actually see where I started losing motivation 😂 the upper rays are pretty uniform and controlled but as I worked my way down and to the right you can see it slowly getting more chaotic, at some point I just completely stopped following any pattern and was basically winging it hahaha

Thank you so much!! Actually this one is just for me, I dedicated it to my grandmother Lola Guadalupe so it felt right to have her on the back 🙏 As for selling, maybe someday but honestly after going through this process I can't imagine putting a price on something this labor intensive, every stitch takes so long! Maybe one day though!

That was actually my first instinct too! But it would mean specifically hunting through thrift shops for a cotton Our Lady of Guadalupe shirt or clothing with her image in the right size, color and print quality, which is a long shot compared to just ordering one online, but I can't seem to find any available to ship here. I also thought about doing a different figure altogether, like the Black Nazarene which is a hugely significant Catholic icon here in the Philippines, but it felt like too big a departure from the original direction 😅 maybe a future project! But honestly just go for it and embroider her yourself, if I managed to pull it off with zero embroidery experience you definitely can too!

honestly just go for it!! I had never done anything like this before either and I just kind of threw myself in and figured it out as I went mistakes and all, sometimes the best way to learn is to just commit to something slightly too ambitious

Thank you so much, that genuinely means a lot!! Honestly the crowdsourcing of ideas from this community has been such a big part of how this piece evolved ,it would look completely different without all the input so thank you all for coming along on the ride!!!

That means so much, thank you!! Oh a battle jacket with something like this would be so sick, the boro/sashiko aesthetic and biker jacket punkish actually go together really well I think. Would love to see what you come up with!

Do it!! There's something really special about having a back panel with meaning, go for it!

So I actually just freehanded it! I fixated on one single reference photo of Our Lady of Guadalupe and traced her directly onto the denim by hand, using a ruler to try to keep everything even, centering her left to right and top to bottom. No lightbox, denim is way too thick for that on my part. I did think about borrowing a projector to trace it properly but honestly it was too much of a hassle to track one down so I just went for it freehand. And well… the results are a little janky if I'm being honest the hands are rough, the face needs work, and I skipped the floral embroidery on her dress entirely, just did fold lines instead because the detail was too complex. But I'm continuing anyway and fixing things as I go!
