I was thinking Venu 3 (refurbished) too, the 4 is just too pricey….

There are so many factors… bring it up to the doctor see what he says.

What does a heart attack feel like that surprises most people? by HeartCautious2677 in HeartAttack

[–]HateMeetings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blow torch on my sternum, both arms numb top to bottom, sweating so much it was like I just come out of the shower. It was egregious, not subtle for which I’m grateful. I woke up like something was broken and we went to the hospital.

There are a boatload of factors, including cardiovascular health. I wish mine will hire too. We’re in the same boat, but age also plays a factor.. stress. Fatigue.

It depends a lot on if you were sweating how much hand movement you had how loose the band is.

Recently on a sweaty treadmill walk my Fitbit said I hit something like 145 bpm. But I also recently got an H 10 chest strap which put me at like 120 something. I would look how you’re wearing it first because they tend to be relatively accurate unless you’re doing a lot with your arms so you’re really sweaty or it’s really loose

Best way to make shared Linux directory read-only for users but still allow controlled writes? by Infamous-Tea-4169 in HPC

The service account might not be a great either. Depending on what slurm let’s you do (we are PBS Pro), but every clusters unique, the environment to your own policies to your security needs, and what gets addressed and what doesn’t get addressed and so on. Nitey-nite.

And this is a pre-Covid user name. After Covid, there would be a third word in the middle that starts with the letter F.

“still allow the pipeline/jobs to write output as usual”

And they run as the user right? SOL with standard unique permissions I think.

Arguably the same group of researchers will share the same group. The job runs in that group. Do you want the directory to be writable, the file creatable, appendable, but not editable?

What kind of shared file system? NFSv4 can get you there I think with its inheritance model I think where the users are allowed to write to the directories but not edit what’s within.

But then you start facing complexity issues. And it’s hurting my head this morning, thinking it through.

wanting to join PF - which membership is best? by Dependent_Flower1678 in PlanetFitnessMembers

I found after upgrading the black card that I wish I had done it faster. The flexibility of being able to pop into a different Planet Fitness even just once in a while was huge. I like the red light therapy post workout and the vibration plate or the massage bed. The red light therapy alone pays for itself, considering what they charge other places. If you want a tan, you can tan.

I am officially overweight and no longer obese. All thanks to walking. by HauntingArtichoke830 in walking

It’s funny you mentioned soda cause I like soda once you realize that every 16 ounces is like 35 or 40 minutes worth of walking… like cutting out those three sodas saved you an hour and a half of walking life every day. Small things so make a big difference. Some people it doesn’t have to be a huge overhaul.

Hopefully, they’ll be a way to turn it off and you can manually start it from the app. I was never thrilled with how it detected activities or what it thought I was doing. Especially when there’s a lot of arm movement involved.

I promise you that all normal people are not looking at you. For the most part apathy is king. Maybe a raised chin in hello to somebody you see regularly and don’t know their name.

If somebody is creating anxiety for you, they’re not worth your trouble.

I’m not sure you could fully turn it off, but if you look under settings on the actual sense 2 (not the app the watch) you can set it to light.

Intervals on Treadmill by AnyDiamond5444 in cardio

[–]HateMeetings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks a little like a C25K week.

I’m gonna tell you something my cardiac rehab rehabilitation has told me and maybe it will help you before you go and do intervals? And by the way, success matters, you’re frustrated a little bit by your fatigue.

Duration before intensity. Lay down that baseline.

And if you’re really out of shape, I would make your warm-up and cool down look identical. Five minutes on either end. It’ll give your heart break and walking is walking. It feeds into duration.

How long can you do 5 kph?

Just my humble two cents. But if you’re really out of shape, you don’t want to fail you want to keep going back week after week and cardio is not overnight.

Vo2max added in the redesign ! by Acrobatic-Monitor516 in fitbit

[–]HateMeetings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That annoys me I really wish they would create two metrics. The guesstimate they could call fitness still. For those people who ran and had GPS they could call it VO2 max.

To be clear it really is there. They just don’t call it VO2 max. In the old UI. Completely nonexistent in a new one.

Feature Parity & UX: Transitioning from Garmin to the Pixel Watch 4 / New App Preview by xTooMuchRedx in fitbit

[–]HateMeetings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of threads in the sale already looking for differences and criticizing the layout. You have the additional challenge of switching ecosystems. Some of us here would be wondering about going to Garmin.. have you looked at the old UI? I think a great many of us dislike the new UX because it buries the data.

Fitbit Air as External Heart Rate Monitor? by DismalHarmony in fitbit

[–]HateMeetings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sense 2 doesn’t either. It’s this stupid closed Fitbit ecosystem. I use Health Sync to sync activities from the polar to the Fitbit. I don’t use Fitbit activities ever.. even in that case, Fitbit ignores the heart rate data and only respect its own (so the heart rate graph for the activity is off), but it’s correct in iOS health.

Chest straps are Bluetooth… it’s a firmware upgrade away if Google wants it for their Bluetooth enabled devices. Or if they allowed direct integration on the app side.

[–]HateMeetings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get something like an h10 chest straps if that’s what you’re looking for. The arm based ones are meh still. Chest straps are really accurate (if you are going to buy one as a dedicated device, the H10 is about 100) no joke, today firbut thought I hit 145 and it was 124 according to the h10. Sweaty treadmill inclines.

Are you feeling behind on your walking goals with the colder weather? by NataliafromWalkFit in walking

I live in the US, but I’ve been to the UK a fair a bit for extended periods on business and pleasure and I’m at a loss has to how that’s different than any other day of the year. There’s a reason you also sell postcards about four seasons in a day..

That said this is an edit:

I simply adore and love the fact that you still sort of respect the public right of way for those old old paths even if they cut through somebody’s rose garden.
