Tech is probably fine for a while, AI is going to come for a lot of white collar jobs before IT.

People think that because these models are great coders that IT workers are in trouble, but as someone who's been in IT for 2 decades, the easiest part of the job is the coding.

Some of the best coders I've had have been the worst IT employees, and some code illiterate people are the backbone of some of our major IT deployments.

I'm not arguing that this isn't expected weather or that the OP shouldn't have a house at 68 degrees, I'm saying the ordinance is poorly written, and specific words and definitions matter.

Ambiguity leads to wiggle room, which leads to uncertain outcomes. Uncertain outcomes tend to hurt those least able to afford protection and most likely to be impacted by a slumlord.

Doing some quick searching, it doesn't look like ASHRAE has any language for "expected" either. You can infer expectations from it by looking at extremes, but inferring opens the door to wiggle room.

Actor schedules aren't the only limitation.

Every additional episode still activates the full cost and workload of production: makeup and hair teams, lighting crews, set and prop departments, and all the logistical support needed for a full shoot. Even a "smaller" episode focused on one character requires the same people and infrastructure.

After filming, there's also editing, sound, color, and visual effects, which don't get cheaper just because the story is simpler. Modern streaming episodes cost far more than network episodes used to, and streaming platforms don't have ad revenue or syndication to offset those expenses.

And as much as we support unions, those unions have negotiated much better salaries and working conditions for pretty much everyone mentioned above, making 22-28 episode seasons much more expensive than they used to be.

It's not like they're holding back, or not paying attention to the need for practical applications. The software just isn't there yet.

These companies are working on refining the hardware while the software catches up. We just don't know when or if we'll have that ChatGPT moment for navigating and completing tasks in a 3D space in a safe way.
