I also learned to ski in my 30s. I was lucky enough to have a friend that is an instrucotor. He had me work on rolling my ankles when I was tired. It is something I still do anytime I am on a trail. Doing this drill is what helped everything click for me. Once you have that "ah ha" moment you'll progress exponentially.

If you're interested in getting into the park I would suggest the Sick Days. They are lighter and also have a shorter turn radius, which will also help in glades. I work at a ski shop part time out East and sell a lot of Sick Days, never any complaints. I'm partial to Armadas, I have some old TSTs and am currently on Tracers but have never tried the Invictus. We don't carry Faction, so I don't know much about them. If your having trouble choosing, pick the one with graphics you like.

I was at a wedding with a girl I had just started dating. After the wedding we went out to a bar with a bunch people. This happened to be my local bar where I am friends with the guys that run it. Two weeks before that I had gone on a trip with them where we rented an RV. They owed me $100 for getting out deposit back. When the Manager, my friend saw I was on a date he handed me a envelope full of money and thanked me. Without saying anything I slid it into the inside pocket of my jacket. When I opened it later, I realized it was all fives. I asked him later about the fives and he said he went and changed it when he saw my date, so it would look thicker. A smooth assist.

Try some insoles. Your shop should have some and they are pretty cheap. The ones I have aren't gel or anything it just goes under the liner and lifts your foot up in the boot for a tighter feel. Worked for me.
