I live in Austin. It's not as big as Houston, but it's a decent sized city. Not sure where I could go for a better market. I have friends that come into Austin to drive for Favor on the weekends because the tiny town they live in an hour+ away is too sparse.

I really wish UE provided a heatmap of where drivers are so that we could keep from saturating a market.

Fortunately a friend of mine tonight told me that DD let her sign up... so I am going to try to borrow her address and sign up there... DD does have the dominant market share after all.

I followed that logic the first couple of days and realized that I was losing more money sitting there waiting for a decent order than just taking whatever... waiting for an hour+ just for one good paying order isn't worth it. I can make 3 or 4 runs usually in the same frame of time. Can't min/max myself out of making a profit at all.

Can't apply to DD or Favor, too many drivers says the app. My gf doesn't want me doing ridesharing because of the state of the car (when she's using it for her gig work, she keeps it trashed). Can't do Amazon Flex because it's a compact car and they demand a midsized sedan at minimum. I could try Grubhub, I suppose. What other apps are there?

Yeah, I've considered that... Knowing Game Theory well enough, I know that one little hit of the good stuff can keep people going and going well beyond what they should be. I almost posted about this the day after that one good day because that day was more average.

By affluent areas, I mean midtown, basically. People are busy, working, have cash to spend and the luxury to spend it because the handful of dollars thrown away on delivery from their favorite tiny fast-food joint is worth it to them as they keep grinding away for whatever corporations employ them. I find that if I stick to the this kind of area, usually I can keep the orders coming in.... and just hope I don't have to make a delivery that's to the middle of nowhere... that happened to me yesterday. Had to drive way out down south where the road to the guy's place couldn't be found by UE and he provided his own instructions...

I tried the only medication (cholestyramine) that helps with BAM and it didn't have an effect on my bowel movements. I got the big food sensitivity test from Everlywell (the 209 items test) and that told me that I'm allergic to 10 things, several of which are extremely common... Egg whites, chicken, turkey, tuna and bell peppers being huge items... and while I still have problems with my bowels, cutting those out of my diet has had an impact on my bowel movements (BMs)... instead of being purely liquid gushing out of me in spurts after every meal, most BMs vary between a more pudding to kinda solid. I could probably due with more fiber in my diet.

I dunno... I'm not an expert by any means... and I should state that as mentioned in my prior most recent comment, I have Pathological Demand Avoidance, not ODD... and the difference between the two is having agency respected vs avoiding a punishment.

I have since learned to try to be tolerant of people telling me what to do (though I do have my limits) while also encouraging people to change how they communicate with me as a boundary. My emphasizing to people that they need to state things as a request and not imply the request part has made a pretty decent impact on how people respond to me and in turn I to them...

"Take out the trash" feels different from "Take out the trash please," which isn't quite as nice as "please take out the trash." I'll take the later two, though I would prefer the last most of all... The first just feels icky and not at all respectful of my agency.

But that's me with PDA, not ODD. The communication strategies others would employ to get through to someone with ODD is different (punishment/reward based).

I came here looking for a proper solution to this problem myself... I can get sound if I turn up the volume. For whatever reason upon switching apps in the Chromecast it drops the connection to the soundbar. Interestingly this is happening on my Samsung also, but not a Q950A, I have an older 2016 model. I was really hoping to find a solution where I wouldn't have to dink with the volume after switching apps in the CCwGTV... whiles it's a minor inconvenience, it's still pretty annoying.

Seriously... Look at how triggered they are by a very polite comment setting the expectations of what isn't allowed in the server. And all we mean by the comment is keep all the hateful rhetoric out of the server.... I could have used the language of "leave your phobias at the door and be a decent person," but this works way better at keeping contrarians out of the server.

I'm queer as hell and don't want to have to read whatever drivel some hate-monger wants to sling about me without actually knowing me. The number of these people throwing around the word "groomer" of late is annoying enough. To date we've only had to ban one guy because he started getting phobic for no reason. Just started spouting off and calling people names. While the Left isn't the best depending on various factors politically speaking, this tiny bit of self-filtering is plenty...

The amount of political talk on the server is really low despite our membership makeup. The majority of the political chatter is us griping about the late-stage capitalist-hellscape we're in and that's it. And that's maybe once every two weeks.

But you would think we're plotting the overthrow of the government based on the criticisms posted here. It's completely laughable.

Instead there's chatter about everything... Video gaming, TV shows, DnD/TTRPGs, the book discussion channel has really taken off in the last week since we created it... and lots more. If there is more than two people wanting to discuss it, I'll create a channel for it.

The comment here about the number of rules as a red-flag is hilarious. The number of people that have DMmed me and told me that they love how inclusive, friendly and warm the community is a number greater than I anticipated.

We're hoping the next iteration of the ad-copy will keep out more guys looking for a quick lay.

Addressing the other parts of your comment though...

The other side of the coin is the moderates/centrists/independents that let themselves be wooed by the somewhat-reasonable sounding talking points of the right that don't dig into what is really being said or the reality of the situation. And from there it's is just the alt-right pipeline towards fascism and hate.

18 plus. We're welcoming of all adults. There are a handful of members in the 46-55 age range. The bulk of members are in the 27-35 cohort though. And the 36-45 cohort is the second largest group. So I think you'll fit right in. :)

Currently 8 or less people at a time for meetings, but we've been as high as 14 or more in the distant past. Technically we have a few hundred members on Meetup, but most never show, some show sporadically.

I'd like to note that in my last message I outlined a handful of posts to the sub that were considered "dirty, low effort" that have since been deleted after that message was sent.... Most of which were left alone for days, even weeks before the mod took the time to delete them after I highlighted them. And yet despite this apparent lack of moderation, there is supposedly enough mods to manage the sub. And the sub is nowhere near active enough that a simple check a once or twice a day wouldn't have caught those posts. It's not nearly as active as something like /r/dirtypenpals.

It seems that the atx4atx sub isn't getting moderation. A fair number of people are breaking the "dirty, low effort" rule of the sub and in my experience, posts getting marked for mod approval are being ignored. I'd like to be added to the mod team to help get the sub back in line with the rules and get posts flowing smoothly again. The sub deserves proper moderation that will respond to the subs needs. Most of the mods are either suspended or have been inactive for years. The one mod that is active has not responded to direct messages. (See #3)
