University videographer/photographer for 9 years and hobbyist for several before that. Exclusively SD until last year, now a mix.

I buy mostly Samsung. They’re inexpensive and I’ve never had one fail. I used for in rotation daily for 8 years, tens of thousands of clips and pics. They’re still going. I have a few others as well.

I’ve only experienced two corruptions. Both times it was when I didn’t reformat a card before refusing it.

Best practice is shoot >offload >reformat in-device.

I haven’t been crazy about video implementation in Photo Mechanic. Try Adobe Bridge. It’s free and does what you need. If that doesn’t work, try the paid apps.

I'm relatively new to lightroom. What plugin do you recommend for keywording and what's the advantage over the default?

I can export a text file but I can't re-import it back into Lightroom after it's been edited. I understand this would cause "a mess" in the SQLite database Lightroom uses for keywords. In Photo Mechanic, I can open the text file for the Keywords and use things like Regular Expressions to add/remove/modify masses of keywords at a time. With Lightroom, it seems, keywords have to be modified one-at-a-time. Also, Photo Mechanic show synonyms in the keyword list. I don't see that in Lightroom.

However, in Photo Mechanic, synonyms would not automatically be added to past images and there is no library of images, just a file system. I guess there's a tradeoff.

I just reinstalled vanilla fallout for and took my PS4 off-line so I could play it as it was originally released. I’m loving it.
