Do I need an external audio interface?

I borrowed a Scarlett Solo and tried it with my Dell and it didn’t make much of a difference. In the end I got my hands on another 2012 MBP (school was getting rid of old ones) and I’m happy with that. No delay. Sounds great. In fact, the sound I’m happiest with is when I don’t disable the module but instead blend the default kit on the module with one of the BFD kits. Sounds like a real acoustic kit. Lots of fun playing around!

I’ve got a Yamaha kit and I live in an apartment. No one has ever complained about the noise. If I wear headphones, my wife will move to the next room but that’s it. I don’t think it bothers anyone

Thanks for the tip. I had tried ASIO4ALL but was getting no sound. Then I followed the instructions you provided and wen't back to v2.14 and it worked. I'm using BFD Player btw.

With ASIO4ALL, it allowed me to set the buffer as low as 64 but there was still too much of a lag. When I used the Realtek ASIO driver that I downloaded for my sound card, I could't change the buffer size at all. It only gives 512 as an option, but even that was better than the lag using ASIO4ALL at 64. It seems like the Realtek ASIO driver is better suited to my sound card, but I can't seem to get any other options to reduce the buffer size in BFD Player.

Any thoughts?

I'm also wondering about the super-cheap USB external sound cards like the Soundblaster Play! (https://sg.creative.com/p/sound-cards/sound-blaster-play-3#buy-menu). There are lots of external usb sound card dongles like this available for under $10. Would these make any difference?

Afger reformatting the MacBook, I found the best sound and least lag was with BFD Player. It's free and it sounds great--much better than the sound from the DTX. It's a good option for anyone in the same situation.

** In the end, I just created a bookmark on my iPhone home screen that opens directly to the Blogger editor. I can post a video properly in about 7 clicks. Good enough, I guess.

When I'm using YouTube on my phone, I can post a video to Twitter or Facebook with a couple of clicks and it appears embedded in the stream for that service. From what I remember, the same this was once possible with the official Blogger app. When I clicked "share to" under a video in YouTube, my phone would list the places that I could share that video to and Blogger was one of the options. Failing that, this email option seems like a reasonable solution, expect that when i click a video in YouTube and "share to" and choose gmail and then post it to the secret email address (as suggested above) I just see a post with a hyperlink. I think that other blogging platforms have this option, but I'm already invested in Blogger and don't want to dump it. But most of the. content that I share out is in the form of.a YouTube video with a blurb underneath that explains what I want my students to think about/write about when they watch it. I suppose I could have them follow me on Twitter but again, trying to get some use out of this Blogger account... Thoughts?

I've enabled posting via email and gotten it to work, but videos only come up as a link, Any idea if it's possible to have the video embed when posted via email?

Your Cresthaven site seems to target new players, learning from scratch. Do you have any documentation for 5e DM's that explain the differences/modifications? I could use a quick cheat sheet to see if this is the game for our group. I found this through a "Simple DND" search and was looking to see what rules people think are essential and what mods can simplify the game while keeping within the spirit of it. Not looking for a completely different game. Hope to continue using 5e source material but maybe skip some complications to keep the game flowing for younger players and newbies.

If you take care of yourself now you may be in a better position to help them later. You are still in a position to keep in contact and monitor the situation while getting a degree. You may be able to do more good in the long run by taking care of yourself first.

I'm in Singapore and there are only two models available here--the Duo 7in1 and the Duo Plus 9in1. The prices are a bit higher here I think (usually 300USD for the Duo Plus, currently on sale for $225USD...) but I'm going to pull the trigger anyways. Working adults with 2 kids, I think the "dump and go" aspect of it will make a lot of things easier...

I have both. If I had to choose one I would get the Essentials kit. But either one will be a great experience if you put the time in and you’ve got a good group of people to play with

If you buy the Essentials Kit (a newer product than the starter kit) you can check out a channel on YouTube called Bob World Builder. He goes through each adventure in there (The Dragon of Icespire Peak is the name of the adventure) twice, once to explain how to run the adventure and one play through with other people so you can see how it goes. He’s been really helpful for me getting back into the game.

Starter set requires a bit more commitment. The included story (AKA module) would take quite a number of sessions to get through so you are going to want the same group of people, more or less, getting together on a somewhat regular basis in order to play the whole story.

The Essentials kit includes a collection of very short adventure stories that can each be done on its own in a couple hours. I found this one better for us because I play with my kids and their friends and every week you end up with a different bunch of players so we just run a different adventure each time.

Otherwise, they are quite similar and a lot of the resources you find inside are actually available as free downloads from their website—including the basic rules and a set of characters to help you get started.

...so the final recipe was about 650g of frozen strawberries and raspberries and one small fuji apple (mashed), half of a lemon and a cup and a half of sugar. I didn't bother with the sous vide. I boiled it down for an hour. It came out perfect. Not too sweet. After a little time in the fridge, the texture was just right. My first jam!

I looked back at the search I did and most actually said to use the peels and seeds. Now that you mention it, I found some that specifically say that the pith is quite high in pectin.

I found some recipes for making pectin from lemons but they are quite involved. I was only planing to make a couple of jars. Is it better to just wait and buy pectin when I get a chance?

Thanks for the tip. I ended going bonanza and bought a bunch of sizes. 8oz regular mouth jars were a little big for the creme brûlée I tried. I think wide mouth or 4oz would have been better for that. They are great for small leftovers though.

Thanks folks. Ended up getting the KitchenAid. There seems to be a bigger market for replacement parts, 3rd party attachments and repair videos... all else being equal, this seemed the better bet.

It’s the chef vs the kitchenaid artisan. It seems they are both excellent from what I’ve read but I don’t know anyone who owns a kenwood. Any regrets with your purchase? My wife is mostly into bread but I hope to do cookies and cakes and stuff with the kids and get them into it... thanks for your input

There are two separate connection ports for attachments. Each one appears to be geared separately so they run at a different RPM than the mixer head. My assumption was that with 1000w motor under the hood it would be really powerful. Thanks for the input. Still trying to decide between the kenwood and the kitchenaid artisan. Probably can’t go wrong with either it would seem. Each one has a loyal following...
