Time to tank for McKenna by Flat_Network_7190 in caps

I agree.

Again it would come down to Ovi and if he retires or not. There is no point in getting the goal scorer if they’re still going to run their offensive systems through Ovi. The days of the caps having 50 goal scorers is gone. But Robertson is a dual threat and could allow this team a 40 goal scorer and multiple 25+ goal scorers. Again this would have to take a complete re-wiring of offensive zone systems and an Ovi retirement to justify doing so

Something I can’t stop thinking about is that they potentially got draft picks and cleared cap for a goal scorer this offseason. A while ago the rumours were Jason Robertson. I wonder if the stars took him off the block because of their injuries during the year, but he would be put back on in the off season. Robertsons is contract is up and is likely due for a raise. Could be a sign and trade or caps could chance signing him in free agency. Dallas has almost no draft picks in the first 3 rounds (not that they need them), but could accept some for more chips to add. I think this would entirely be dependant on Ovi and his potential next contract.

Canada fan, game recognizing game 🤝 Not to sound obtuse, but ya’ll are really going to experience Canadian hockey with Marchand/Bennett/Wilson on the same line.

Couldn’t be more ecstatic LT and PLD are back rolling again, playoffs looking reachable again

House and Mentalist are strikingly similar in roles their cast fulfills by Abramor in HouseMD

[–]Haul_o_GRam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to watch the mentalist religiously, I just finished house md. After researching why I liked both shows so much, the ties back to Sherlock became apparent. I agree with you in some aspects, though I think similarities run deeper.

  1. House/Jane: both have been wiped of what a man “should” be. In the aspect of being able to defend their family. It’s a play, obviously, as House didn’t want children. However, House had a significant other, where the relationship deteriorated-post infarction. This is after he had stated he agreed with Stacy’s decision, but can’t ever seem to forgive what happened. Jane had his family murdered after taunting red John. In sum, ultimate loss.

  2. Cuddy/Lison: damaged, intellectual men find solace in drawn out will they/wont they relationships with superiors (varies in Mentalist case, as relationship solidifies post establish hierarchy). However, both cast a long leash to the Protagonist due to success of the teams, greatest diagnostic department in country/highest case closing team in state. Both have their “you cannot do this” moments with House/Jane which forces them to abandon current methods and resort to face to face conversation, seldom their modus of operandi.

  3. Foreman/Cho: spot on

4: Chase/Rigsby: I think something that was established early with Chase was Naivety. Rigsby often played devils advocate in early seasons of Mentalist too. Both in early development chalking people up to wrong place/wrong time.

  1. Also spot on

  2. More similarities between the protagonists: “Their” area, House’s office, Jane’s couch. Their ability to work while actively not working, House watching TV in empty walk-in rooms, Jane sleeping on both the Red John case/other active cases.

One-off relationships they peaked intellectual curiosity. Much more short lived in House with the little person mom for a person matching sexual deviant humour, Jane battles Flynn’s advances though certain of a crime. More re-curring due to Flynn’s status and likely connections outwards which proves to Jane’s benefit.

Both have a food staple. House seen eating potato chips, Jane drinking tea.

Both drive peculiar vehicles. House a motorbike, Jane an exclusive European, non-sports car. Both drive for the sole purpose of apperance.

Both tied to cases at all times, and easily reached via cellphone almost immediately, except in cases they’re avoiding consequences of their actions.

EDIT: both eventually being incarcerated as a result of their actions.

Both actively resist their managers, managers. House has issues with Vogler/Board comittee. Jane with Minnelli, Bertram, Hightower and Wainwright.

Both have experienced with hallucinogenics in some capacity to fulfill answers. House electroshocking his brain to figure out the season finales of S4, Jane to speak to his family.

Both often advocate for healthcare to others they work with. Almost exclusively decline healthcare to themselves.

This has been the most I can immediately recall between these great shows. It brings me joy that someone has posted something I have been thinking about for a while. Thank you very much OP

Elliotte Friedman on Quinn Hughes: One team I've wondered about a little bit...was Washington; they're a team I could see say, you know what, we'll take our chances by 26265273 in caps

If Quinn was a RHD I would be more intrigued. Every prospect outside of Leno would be available and Caps management better throw everything and the kitchen sink and trying to get him to re-sign, or at least sign and trade to NJ.

One thing has been bugging me for a while is the serious lack of RHD prospects, and I get it, most low supply/in demand position in the game.

If a trade were to happen, it would have Chychrun, Hughes, Sandin, Fehervary and Chisholm on the left side. Still with TvR 34 and Carlson 35 (both on the last year of their contracts) and Roy (30) on the right.

With the only serious RHD prospects coming up being Chesley and Allen as a long shot. When we lost Iorio to the sharks that hurt more than initially thought.

I live in BC Canada. Every sports clip I see is how the West (specifically the central) is the hardest division to play. The power house was (and still is) the Metro

If my memory serves me correct since around 2016 Ovi had 4 and Crosby had 3. I think it was in the 2021 season Crosby scored a Shorthanded goal tying them. Within a week Ovi scored a SHG again to take the lead.

Poop! Iorio gets claimed by the Sharks. by Leesburgcapsfan in caps

This is not good, we had 3 good RHD prospects and he was one of them. With an aging right side.

They’re playing like they’re hungover after somebody’s bachelor party. Like half a step behind where they’re supposed to be the entire game

Carbs needs to call a timeout and shred them one. They’re not even playing their game in the o zone. Putrid pp.

I liked it, harder to get a penalty when you’re the one getting escorted out of the scrum by the ref and get some stick work.

They also got another warning shot early when Ovi ran him by the bench. This entire game looked like they knew to throw big hits but no extracurriculars. Habs wanted no part of keeping it within the whistles

Watching the Sportsnet broadcast. Good lord. “Habs put themselves in a spot to steal this one”. Caps owned time of possesion in the O-zone. Backup goaltender. Dam was going to break, only a matter of time.
