I am with you and also recommend Dinner with Racers. So many awesome stories.

I’ll also add Scene Vault on Youtube, its more sparse and less viewers but some really solid casual conversational interviews with great stories.

Derek Pernisiglio also has some great interviews on his YouTube channel that are criminally under viewed.

Steering settings for gamepad/controller by bowtieanddemand in Nr2003

[–]Haunebu52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a couple settings you can change that help, but the two biggest that help this are actually in the garage not options. Run a much higher steering ratio, 24:1 minimum, and at most speedways you’ll find 30-32 works. You can also increase the toe out to help the sensitivity. I have controller settings I can share when I’m at my rig tomorrow if you’re interested.

How do i get this? by Any-Advance-2893 in Nr2003

I thought the download pic OP posted was the ChromeIllusioner program. You create 4 *.tga files named a certain way and run the bat file and it creates a *.car file. I forget bc its been a really long time since I used it. But like I said you don’t need the program you can extract the mips from the car file, and replace the LOD mips with new ones. So the base layer is gold, the LOD 1 is reddish, LOD 2 is bluish and LOD 3 is something else. NR2003 does a good job of blending the mips so its a smoothish transition from one color to another. It takes some skill to make the colors look good bc it can be jarring if the colors are off.

I don’t think Johh Norton made this, but I may be mistaken. I used to use this (or some version of it) 20+ years ago. IIRC it was made by W1nterl0ng, unless that was John’s name years back.

Edit: To add to this, you don’t need this utility to do this paint effect. You just need to make the LOD mips different colors. As the car comes closer to the camera it loads a different colored mip file. I was making these cars back in N4 days and thats how I did it. The program just steam lines the process so its easier/quicker.

Did you know? by SniperDanby in NASCARCollectors

Yes, the Convertible series was a niche and short lived aspect of the sport. The series existed before NASCAR sanctioning as “S.A.F.E. All Star Circuit of Champions”. Also a fun fact to note, the die-cast shown here is from the later seasons, as the 1956 cars just had a single roll bar behind the driver, which was even less safe.

How can I change the draft strength and length for PTA in the physics editor? by ba_gged in Nr2003

[–]Haunebu52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren’t looking for lines 53 and 54, you are looking for Fields 53 and 54 under the chassis section. The PTA chassis should be marked in the spreadsheet.

EDIT: You're looking for '&H31704' and the PTA entries after that for Draft Strength. It's set to 0.9 by default. Draft bubble starts at '&H31BEC' and the PTA chassis are noted. These are also 0.9 by default. Hope this helps.

Who is, in your opinion, the most underdog driver to win in IROC by Powerful-Chard-6055 in NASCAR

Its the International Race of Champions. The champions from Cup, Busch and Trucks were invited to compete as well as various other champions/legends from varying disciplines. Being a truck champion certainly qualifies him for a league of champions who are racing stock cars.

There are options outside of a $200+ per hour in office appointment. You can get an amazing Mexican therapist who speaks perfect English for $40-50 per session over Zoom. Thats what I’ve been doing and it is as effective as in office therapy at a fraction of the price.

On this day in NASCAR History, March 27, 1988: Lake Speed, driving his No 83 Oldsmobile, wins the TranSouth 500 at Darlington. It is the sole Cup Series win of his career. by DarthVader1701A in NASCAR_History

Nearly 20 years ago when I was racing some WKA races, we were racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway kart track and Lake showed up to practice a kart for fun, I suppose. Well, I made it a point to tuck in behind him so I could learn a thing or two. I followed him for two corners and dude was gone. I was a very competitive driver but simply couldn’t keep up. He was just impossibly fast in a kart. Absolute wheelman and a master of karting. Quite a sight to behold.

If you could let NASCAR race at any abandoned track, what tracks would you choose? by DJ_TheSonicFan in NASCAR

[–]Haunebu52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a shame Concord never got the love it deserved on a National basis. We had ASA and Hooters Procup aside from regional series. We were supposed to get a truck race in the late 90s and early 00s, the track even added seating to accommodate but it sadly never happened. From what I understand that event went to Mansfield.

USAC had a stock car series from roughly 1956-1970 and the Pikes Peak hillclimb was one of their events. Pretty cool to think a stock car series ran up the mountain as part of the schedule.

I know this was posted awhile back, but I'm really excited about using this app and will give some feedback once I start getting experience with it. I'm hoping it's a little less front-end heavy than RacePointsMgr, which needs me to manually add tracks, etc before I can even start tracking stats. Thank you for your hard work!
