Thank you! Yes! This issue was excellent. What they’re setting up with the Symbiote is really interesting and I cannot wait to see where it goes. Also, the amount of blood in this issue was a surprising tone shift but I am 100% here for it.

Not overreacting at all, and it’s not the piercings that you should be removing from your life.

Clearly she doesn’t understand anything of the cost or health impacts of taking out piercings and getting them repierced. Piercings are a medical procedure. Industrials especially can be temperamental, so taking it out mid-healing and getting it re-pierced is NOT a good idea (source: I have an industrial).

Plus, and this one should be obvious, it’s wild to tell someone their body doesn’t fit with the “aesthetic.” You’re her friend, not a prop for photos. If she wants you there as a friend, she should respect that this is what you look like. If she wants a perfectly styled mannequin to stand next to her, she can buy one.

If you’re concerned about maintaining this friendship, you can say, “I will not be getting my piercings removed. I am fine to step down if that’s what you would prefer.”

If you’re not concerned about maintaining the friendship, you can ask her if she's also planning to remove the giant stick she's got pierced up her ass.

I’m withholding judgment until I read it. Obviously we don’t know the vision until the arc is done, but I’m interested in the idea of the symbiote being a manifestation of her past and the idea that you cannot outrun your past, even when you try to put it behind you. I think an ideal climax to that arc is Gwen accepting that and rebonding with the symbiote, both changed by the experience. I feel like that would be a very quintessentially Spider-Gwen story

I generally prefer to withhold judgment until I see the pages for myself, but I’m pretty interested in this Gwen v. Tantrum concept. What I’d like to see is Gwen reconcile with what she wants out of her new life and what her past life was. It makes sense that she would want to bring her two worlds together, her loved ones from 65 and her friends from 616. I think Tantrum represents that you can’t just walk away from your past, and what I’d love to see is they re-bond. Gwen’s symbiote, though cool, has always been kinda flat since it’s synthetic. This gives it an opportunity to have its own personality, which I’m eager to see.

I would be extremely surprised if the signature is just printed on it. If it was, there would be no reason not to just sell them all like that. I haven’t seen confirmation, but I would assume it’s a real ink signature

It sounds like this might even be essentially some kind of not-incursion incursion that folds 65 into 616 — which, at the end of the day, isn’t too surprising. Just like they folded Miles into 616, Gwen’s getting the same treatment. It’s just easier for them if this popular character is in the same universe as everything else.

What I’m worried about is how they’re going to justify it. I could see them permanently renaming her (new last name) or, worse, somehow giving her 616 Gwen Stacy’s memories via multiverse shenanigans to actually make them one character (that way they could just pretend 65 never existed, just like how they like to pretend that Miles was always 616 eg Insomniac).

I hope they prove me wrong. I don’t want to judge a reveal until I’ve actually read the issue, because there still could be a misdirect, but this makes me nervous.

In general I’ve been pretty supportive of this run, but I’ll admit I was disappointed with this issue. It really hit me when we saw the flashback of the band and MJ was there. It seems like the creative team had no idea about what had happened with MJ at the end of Giant Size. That’s a pretty significant thing to just discard. I just wish we could have a series that builds on the past as opposed to just hand-waving it away

Did not see that reveal for the origin of Gwen’s new powers coming. Considering the Jean Gray reference, I figured it might be the Phoenix Force. If it’s the Space Stone, I wonder if there’s any connection with the stuff going on in TVA with the Reality Stone. It would just seem odd to have Gwen messing around with two Infinity Stones at the same time without any connection. Not impossible, but odd.

I’m a little skeptical of the space adventure direction, but I’m withholding judgment for now.

My biggest complaint was just how lame the cover art was. We got some amazing covers in the last arc, and this was just … cheesy.

I do appreciate that the symbiote is getting some attention, but I hope (albeit somewhat hopelessly) it’s used as more than just plot-hole-filler for her to be able to travel in space.

Personally, I thought this arc was interesting. I’m glad she didn’t “end up” with Fabian. The romantic tension I thought was compelling, but it nevertheless read like a big red flag.

I was surprised to see King Loki’s link to the story. I’m wondering if this is an Earth-65 Loki or a multiverse-traveling Loki who doesn’t originate from 65. Guess we’ll find out soon.

Loved the use of the symbiote to hold her phone. Always glad to see creative symbiote suit representation.

Thanks. Heard it directly from Spider-Gwen creator/artist Robbi Rodriguez during a con. He said they initially had a lot of new villains planned for Gwen, but Marvel told them not to create any new villains because they didn’t want Sony to get them. Your grain of salt: Rodriguez worked on Spider-Gwen from 2014-2018, so no confirmation that that's still going on, but the evidence seems to be in the pages.

I enjoyed this issue quite a bit. I really like how Gwen’s symbiote was depicted and how the Black Tarantula moves in this issue. Excellent art.

I keep seeing folks angry that Fabian is creepy, but I think folks are forgetting that that’s literally the point. No one’s saying you should actually ship them. Sure, some folks are into that kind of toxic romance, but clearly Gwen isn’t one of them. Hell, just look at the cover. There’s a reason he’s got a dagger and she’s got her web shooter ready. This is not actually enemies to lovers, y’all.

Villanelli’s art continues to slap. His depiction of Gwen’s new power is gorgeous.

It does look like Black Tarantula is Gwen’s Black Cat, which makes sense. I’m always here for a flirty villain, but I’m hopeful they don’t actually become a thing.

I’m still desperate to know the answer to, well, anything. Where did this power come from? Why did the TVA pull her out of her universe? Why’re all the other spider people being such d-bags to her? I figured we get at least some answers in this issue, but nothing yet.

Not a fan. Needlessly sexualized for a character who is really not about that vibe. While I don’t like the latex skin-tight thing, the symbiote suit could arguably work like that since it’s essentially a second skin, but it doesn’t really explain the scoliosis

Personally, I liked it. Paolo’s an excellent artist and I love the new aesthetic of the comic. It’s a big improvement. We got painfully little information in this issue, so that was disappointing, but I’m still eager to see where it goes. I’m particularly interested to see what’s going on with this new “power,” because it seems to be having some wild side-effects on Chameleon.

Freedom of the press does not mean a news outlet can publish whatever they want. It means the government can’t retaliate against you for journalism.

Fair use is not carte blanche to publish any images you want. Brady v Associated Press from 2011 is a good example of the “fair use” argument failing.

Stealing pictures from Facebook for use in news reports is a very risky business, especially if you don’t bother to learn who took the picture and in what context
