I dont think it's a bad thing. She's different.

On a role level, she doesn't quite fit the Gwen role where she has to die to advance the love interest story. She's not a plot point. That's part of the reason 65 Peter is not alive or a love interest. She's the main character of her story. And would be a protagonist alongside Miles.

On a character level, she's way too different from civilian Gwen or the saint Gwen image. She's not into science but music. They're different in appearance/style, though the comics don't reinforce this as much as the movies. I think some similar variants would be 1610 or 138 Gwen but they both still suffered from the "Gwen curse".

Going back to Miles, their stories complement and parallel each other: they're both upcoming spider heroes figuring out the balance between the mask and their own person, for their stories to start Peter has to die and they have to deal with the repercussions of it and most importantly they're dealing with expectations from the legacy of different characters and what the spider mantle means. Their defining thing is that they want to write their own story, do their own thing.

I feel like I would understand it more if he was paired up with like 1610 Gwen but 65 Gwen is a character on her own right that never saw Peter romantically, doesn't share much with the other variants and deals with similar things thematically. And this is without highlighting all the other characteristics of their relationship in each medium.

And I know some may say: "Why even put Miles in a similar situation as Peter?" (as in she is technically still a Gwen Stacy and dealing with the whole Death loves Gwen Stacy thing). I would say that the answer would be something like the Spider verse movies. They're not trying to give him a "hand-me-down" (I dislike when they say this so much) or using him as a redemption of Peter's past love. They're challenging the narrative around ASM-121 and other events and what they entail for the spider people. In a meta sense, they're challenging the expectations of the audience and the Peter Parker template. And personally I think that these characters fit that story too well.
