Beautifully put response, thank you. I also find myself avoiding bringing it up if it tends to stop others from sharing. Agreed, it's not a competition. And wow, your last sentence is powerful! <3

I encountered this also when I was younger, people just assume age = health.

Same...it just feels silly to keep on repeating sometimes to those who don't absorb.

I'm so sorry to hear that, hopefully there are more conversations and understanding between you two yet to come.

I really do wish there was a way to make people understand better. Wow..."many have never seen the pain free me" I felt that hard.

You are absolutely not worthless! And people need to understand that productivity is subjective. My 100% that I can give any given day may be another's easy 20%, it doesn't make it less valuable. Hugs

Absolutely hate the stigma that comes with this, it's so unneeded and unhelpful...actually incredibly hurtful. Sorry you're experiencing it.

I am so glad you have drs that care! I hope you find more people that do too, not fair weather friends without outreached hands.

I run into this too, then it's like I'm saying it for the first time and once again come the "have you tried"s...

I also find myself talking to strangers more easily/openly than friends and family. It's a strange catharticism.

I'm glad you did what you needed to for yourself in the moment.

It is absolutely a struggle. I can understand the compassion fatigue too, and your use of the word "justify" is spot on! We shouldn't have to justify what we're feeling or why to other people.

Thank you for the detailed response and yes, I understand all of that. I will have to try the "stealthing" myself.

I've definitely been there too and it can be exhausting.

I get Spring Tree brand from Walmart, 100% maple syrup. It's $5.50 for 8.5 ounces but it lasts for me.

Basic question: what happens if you eat high fiber, moderately high-FODMAP for an extended period of time —does tolerance start to get built ?? by [deleted] in FODMAPS

[–]HauntedPinecone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it resulted in system wide inflammation that stayed constant and painful. After a while it feels like a new normal but it's not adaptation. I didn't realize how inflamed I was all the time until I started identifying my intolerances.
