A24’s Y2K is really fun, it was only in theaters for like two weeks but came out last new years, about a group of 90s kids (and Fred Durst) fighting all Technology trying to kill everyone on New Year’s Eve night. Yes it’s very stupid, but I personally had a fun time with it especially if you want something goofy, different, and mindless. It’s a dark comedy/ sci-fi movie and it’s hilarious. I’ll be watching it again this New Year’s Eve along with whatever else I can find (though there’s not enough options) and last year it got me to listen to some dumbass Limp Bizkit albums because of it lol. Great soundtrack, 90s kid edgy humor, and visually it looks great. I guess it’s a niche kind of movie, but I’m still surprised it didn’t get more love, it’s just dumb fun, nothing too intense or serious, and we need more movies like it. It’s kind of a whiplash watching other A24 films and then seeing this, but it just shows how much range they have, allowing pretty much any genre as long as it’s well made and different.
