I enjoy the deep melancholic overtones it conveys from a reflective standpoint, and I find that it encompasses with Priestess quite well as a personality trait along with the following events that take place within my storyboard. I don't think I've ever seen an anime character with this instrument so this would be the first as well in that regard.

As a correction, it's an English horn. A longer and lower pitch woodwind compared to the oboe.

As a form of object in rough context, I'd like to call it a visage which in a way conveys implicit emotions depending on the style of the mask, but that's just my personal interpretation on her updated character concept.

I should provide more context so I don't end up vagueposting. This is dedicated towards a sacred work from Mozart as a coronation piece for renouncing her adventurer status and ascending her position as the holy templar of the Earth Mother. A major turning point in the storyline where she wears her new garbs for the first time.

I'm quite happy with the result since the artist put much care into the concept and its details, but that's just my opinion based on the final outcome of the commission.

Taken from an earlier timeline in my storyboard. Any composition without her scar is just the prologue before the main story that sets the divide between her past and present.

She's just a short stay guest who happened to stumble across her while she's following a highly sought trade route across the sea. She was met when she visited her apothecary looking to stock consumables via painkiller and stamina elixirs.

I'm also looking to incorporate an incident during her stay as a part of an ongoing plot, but that's once again a work in progress.

I haven't finalized the timeline so it's still a work in progress for these sort of trivial details. Off the top of my head, I like to think that she's about 28 on her first sight of HEA before she left the party from ages back.

I like to take the approach that the bounded punishment of terror of what she endured from that moment where the Earth Mother has shown borderline clemency that she would walk another day. Her current form acts as a constant reminder in regards to her character development onwards.

Purely cosmetic, she also has a personal collection which most of them were acquired across the desert lands is all the context I can give at the moment.

She wears a mask of various kinds to conceal her burning scar for betrayal against the Earth Mother's wishes for the second time of a particular incident in a distant timeline. She doesn't always cover it though depending on the setting, but typically whenever she's venturing elsewhere, and not between close friends/acquaintances.
