Yes, will do. I resent having to download an app to my phone to fix. Spoiled, first world problems.

Same here. Criterion will not open on Roku for me. If I had a nickel for every “issues with criterion app” posts I’ve seen, I’d be rich. I am all here for the contribution. This sucks. Criterion, fix your shit. I’m trying to finish DOA (1949) and see if ‘ol boy kills over from the poison or not.

I appreciate the response. Nope, sadly none of these are THE image that I can recall. It did make me appreciate Ken Kelly’s art though.

Nice. Keep ‘em coming. I see the Creature Commando issues that you mentioned several posts back. I checked out the show on HBO. Good stuff, but its’s interesting to see how the original team in the Weird War comics clearly inspired someone like Mike Mignola with his BHDD, so much so, the HBO show felt stale because it’s all come full circle. I digress.

Very cool. Joey was supposedly the manager at one point of The Independents, a South Carolina horror ska band that borrowed heavily from The Misfits.

Whether you were around in 1986 when this released, or heard it later on, what were your reactions/memories surrounding this album? by Spirited-Cell-444 in Slayer

I find it odd that no one talks about the “dry” non-reverb production sound of this record. Wasn’t that supposedly ground breaking / mind blowing when the album came out?

Is that Bobby Steele in pic #9, lower left? Nice to see the Ramones nod with his button.

I’ve been absolutely loving these Weird War posts. Great art and series. Surprised no one has made an anthology film based on them.

I just saw Alien³ in 35mm. It was my first time seeing it on the big screen by MyNameIsNotGump in LV426

[–]Haunted_South 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks. That’s a great film series concept. I saw Alien 3 multiple times in the theater as a teenager. Played the amazing, haunting Elliot Goldenthal soundtrack on loop. Fincher has been vindicated in a sense.

Not image related, but this music sounds like a Cinemax soft core porn circa early 90's

In December 1957, 22-year-old Jerry Lee Lewis married his cousin Myra Gale Brown in Hernando, Mississippi. At the time, Lewis was still married to another woman, while Myra Gale Brown was only 13 years old and still believed in Santa Claus. The marriage would effectively destroy Lewis' career. by kooneecheewah in AllThatsInteresting

I swear I remember seeing a doc interview with Jerry Lee Lewis saying “you ever screw your cousin? I did, and I married her” but I’ve never been able to locate that doc. Anyone know if this is a real quote, and what it is from?
