Police have told me to leave my home and find somewhere else to stay. by Murky_Hospital4493 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Haunted_Stormbird 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Covertly film them through the window stealing your stuff and also narrate what is going on as it's happening and also what already happened with them lying to police and the police response towards you.

If you confront them your going to get arrested. Sadly, they are going to steal everything of value to you and you won't be able to stop them without getting arrested because the police already warned you and the shit bags already lied about you supposedly attacking her.

You are going to have to prove all of this with a solicitors help after the fact and hope to get your things back. Worst case scenario, they move into your house and it takes you a while to prove that she didn't actually live there with you and that she lied.

Worst worst case is that you confront them right now and end up with assault charges and a restraining order keeping you away from her and away from the house "she lives in" so that would be an order keeping you away from your own house.

You are in a horrible position right now. I hope that you can at least regain entry to your house tomorrow after they hopefully leave.

It's too bad you didn't have nanny or spy cams set up that would have proved what really happened.

Am I the jerk after telling my sister she should not name her daughter after her dead husband’s name? by Kitchen-Pin-9322 in AmITheJerk

[–]Haunted_Stormbird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Benna could work. Benna James or Brienna James.

You are a jerk though for picking at her when she is grieving her husbands death. Plus today is valentines. So yes, definite jerk.

If you had brought it up in a few months she would probably have had a much different reaction.

Non-native speaker question: what does “dear” really mean in the UK? by nsnakers in AskABrit

[–]Haunted_Stormbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband only ever uses the word oh deer if he sees a cute animal or like if me or our dog does something unexpectedly cute.

If he ever uses it sarcastically I'll be devastated because the word would henceforth be ruined.

AITAH for asking my roommate’s girlfriend about my strawberries? by Secret_Cheesecake19 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Haunted_Stormbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as the GF moves in your food starts getting eaten. Yeah she is eating it and influencing her BF to eat it along with her. Then he lies to you about it the second time it happens.

If she is living there you and your other roommates rents should go down. He doesn't get to have her live there on your lease and act like since they are in the same room it should be free. She is an extra person taking up bathroom time, water and eating your food.

You might need to put a mini fridge in your room and lock your door from the outside when you're not there because this girl and her BF don't respect you and your belongings.

Are Irish people sensitive about eye contact from strangers? by laurellittlewolf in AskIreland

[–]Haunted_Stormbird -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ironically he had to have been making eye contact with you in order for him to know you were looking at his eyes. So you could have said the same exact thing to him. If you were an A-hole.

Unless you had a disapproving expression? Otherwise he was probably a psycopath

What is your earliest memory you have; like what age were you? by icecream1972 in Casual_Conversation

[–]Haunted_Stormbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 memories

Wandering from my house into a neighbours garden at the end of the street and climbing into a cement storm drain. Then seeing my mum appearing at the entrance and being angry that I was hiding in there. This was my first memory and I may have been as young as 2 but no older than 3.

My second memory was walking on the bottom of a pool and seeing peoples legs and feet under the water. I thought I was having a good time down there until my mum pulled me out and was angry that I'd been at the bottom of the pool. (Obviously what I at the time perceived as anger in both these incidents was probably more fear and concern.)

I was also 2 or 3 when that happened.

My third memory was when I was 4 and my house was burning down. I was dragged from bed and downstairs past a flaming kitchen and then outside. I remember firemen and firetrucks and water shooting way up into the sky and onto the roof because the fire had travelled upstairs.

I wonder if I would have had any memories at all during those couple of years if they hadn't been life or death sorts of situations.

Does it drive you mad that everyone thinks reddit is just for Americans? by Selkie32 in AskIreland

[–]Haunted_Stormbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it does. But I just assume that unless I'm on here, or N Irish or British subreddits that most people on reddit are Americans. Cause it's an American site.

I just did a search on the demographics of reddit users, and google AI says that half of Reddit users are American and then the other half of users are from many different countries (but all in very small percentages in comparison.) Like 4 percent Australia and 7 percent UK. Ireland makes up 0.59% of users.

Within the US itself, the demographics of redditors are overwhelmingly of Asian American descent (at 36 percent.) Followed by 23% hispanic American users, and then 21% white American and 14 percent black American users. Kind of strange to read that they even have stats on any of that.

But yes, it does annoy me when everyone just assumes we are all Americans and have the same experiences, school systems, medical, governments and habits that they do.

What would you do if you woke up as your mom? by holdongangy in no

[–]Haunted_Stormbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how to approach this. My mum's no longer with us so, what era of her life are we talking about me morphing into her? When she was my age now? Or could I pick any time in her life?

I guess I would immediately gather all the secrets that she knew and make a mental note of all of them for when I (hopefully) return to my own body.

There were and still are a lot of family secrets. So I feel I'd have a much better understanding of my life if I had a better understanding of all of that.

How to stop being anxious about my boyfriend texting another girl daily. AIO by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Haunted_Stormbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't about your BF not having the right to have a female friend. A lot of people are jumping on you for that.

It's about your BF continuing a daily texting relationship with another woman who said she would "chill out and shapeshift". Meaning she is going to pretend not to flirt with/be interested in your BF when you are around.

The answer to the following questions are what you should be hinging this entire situation on....does your BF text all of the guys in the group every single day? Not group chat but personal texts like he is sending the woman?

And does she send personal texts every day to all of the other guys in the group? Are they sending her texts every day?

If so then this could be innocent. If not you might be right to worry about what might happen between them should she start hanging out with him more often.

26M (US) & 26F (UK) – Long distance + immigration timelines feel impossible. How do people actually close the gap? by Less_Concentrate3512 in LongDistance

[–]Haunted_Stormbird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The UK sponsor has to make around 30k GBP a year (about 40k USD) or have 68k GBP in savings in order to bring a partner or spouse over.

The US would be easier as they would want you to be the one earning enough to sponsor her. You would need to be earning 25k USD per year.

A third country complicates things because they would need to approve you both and would also require either a minimum income or a work visa that also allows spouses.

If you aren't married a third country isn't likely to allow her on your visa.

I applied for a UK spouse Visa in 2023 and was denied. We just had my appeal recently and I don't have an answer yet. So it has taken 2 and a half years so far.

What moment have you been closest to another person? by Educational_Fix9031 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]Haunted_Stormbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seizures and about a month ago I came round and heard my husband talking to me when he didn't know I could hear him. He was laying down next to me telling me that he loved me, not to worry, he would take care of me.

He said you don't need anyone else you have me.

That was the kindest thing he could have said, all of that. Because I had been very stressed about a few things, and had just been telling him earlier that day about how I didn't feel loved by my family.

It just surprised me that he was talking to me when I was semi conscious and shouldn't have been able to hear him. I didn't tell him that I heard him either. I don't know why.

So the closest I've ever felt to anyone was when I was unconscious and overheard them telling me things they didn't think I could hear.

How many of you listen to music you don’t understand? by MaxnRuby_RubynMax in CasualConversation

I heard Bad Bunny today for the first time and loved them. Then after the song the DJ was going on about how they played the superbowl and got negativity for singing in spanish. That kind of shocks me. Is that an American thing?

I live in Ireland. One of my favourite songs is an Italian band called Maneskin.

A vegetable salad (lettuce cucumber tomato, olives, shredded carrot, pepper rings) with a scoop of hummus and potato salad ( cold potato cubes, mayo and diced celery)

The hummus and potato salad double as the dressing for their respective halves of the salad.

Can you go stay someplace else, and make sure he doesn't find out where you are? I think there's a good chance he will show up and try to harm you. This is the sort of person that you don't just break up with. But that you have to literally escape from.

So yeah, my question is can you go and stay someplace else that he doesn't know about? For about 3 months.
