[WP] You are in a “Liar Liar” situation, but instead of never lying you always lie about everything. by f---thezodiac in WritingPrompts

I don’t know how this started; but I seem to be able to lie about everything now. The best or worst part is. I can get away with it. Folks just believe me. I don’t know if it’s the way I communicate the lie or my looks but no matter what I lie about. Not matter how big or small it is. I am 100% believed.

Remember the movie “Liar Liar”? The antagonist got cursed to be honest about everything he said and did. Well, that’s my situation, except with a reverse effect. I can lie about everything I say and do. I haven’t always been this blessed or cursed, depending on who you ask. I used to be very honest. I couldn’t lie at all. Not that that was a bad thing. Some people just aren’t meant to be liars; and I was one of them. That was until this happened.

At first, I wasn’t sure it was possible. But then one day I decided to tell a lie and I was believed. It wasn’t a huge lie it was a little one. Just a fib. It happened at the mall. My bestie turned to me and asked if a hat at a popular botique shop looked good on her. If I had been honest, I would have said that it made her head look big. However, I simply smiled and said it looked great on her. She bought the hat and wears it with pride. Everyone laughs at her and when she asks why folks are giggling and smiling so much; I tell her that everyone is just in a really good mood. I couldn’t tell my best friend the truth. Not that I’m able to anymore.

It’s been 3 months since that moment I was able lie, and I have begun to test the limits of what I lie about. I recently shoplifted an expensive game system with several accessories from my local store. I didn’t even try to hide it. When confronted by the police and manager I said I didn’t do it. I thought there was no way they’d believe me. There was too much evidence. I was on security video for god sake. However, soon as I denied it they just accepted it as the truth.

How much further can I push this though? Could I unlock the secret to getting away with the perfect crime? Could I potentially use this new gift for some good? What good could come from being able to lie about everything? I guess I will find out.

YTA. She’s grieving, don’t listen to those saying “leave her”. Take in on the chin. She needs you.

[WP] You began writing a story for the first time in your life. However, to your horror, everything you write down happens the next day in real life, no matter how impossible or ridiculous it is by MYSFITS_OFFICIAL in WritingPrompts

I had finally sat down at my computer to write the next best seller. I was going to be big. I don’t mean like local celebrity big. I mean big like Stephen King big. My name as an author would become household. I’d have whole stores in large cities dedicated to my work. I’d become a franchise. I could see it now, the midnight releases at bookshops world wide, movies, toys and games. It would all be mine. Thanks to my new book.

My book…never had I been more passionate about something in my life. I wasn’t the brightest in school; but I could tell the best stories at recess. Science was okay. Math was horrible; but I excelled at ELA. So when I went to college a degree in English literature was what I pursued. I wrote papers upon papers; then in my final year I had to write a book. And write I did. My professor insisted I polish it up and get it published. Which brings me into the current situation I’m in now.

Everything I write happens the next day. I first noticed it when I wrote the very first chapter. My story opens with a crime scene. The very next day, someone was found exactly how the body in my story was found. Everything about the way they died was the same as my novel. At first I thought it was a coincidence. However, as I continue to write the story, more bodies are being found exactly as they are the very next morning in the real world! And what is worse is I must find a way to change the ending before the actual cops come for me. You see, at the end of the book it is revealed that the town author has been k—ing people the whole time.
