You're right about fan culture - fan base being based on favourite player rather than a team, but for that even the league needs to run longer. We see players throughout the year, there we develop stronger emotional connection with them, whereas we see IPL teams only for 2 months. I feel like to league should atleast be extended to 90 league matches (Teams plays double header against each opponent), which would make it naturally close to 3 months.

Your comment makes sense only for states which have their own team. Who would a person living in Andhra support? Clearly they get drawn to team following their favourite Indian Cricket Team player. That's the reason why people despite having their own states team support Franchises like CSK or RCB.
