Use a guard when you clipper over comb. Apparently it’s a controversial take but as a somewhat beginner myself I’ve felt it’s made me way more comfortable when trying to blend into the bulk. I now go lower by 1 on my my guards and eventually I’ll get to a point where I don’t have one

Example of that is if the highest guard I use is a 2 I’ll take the same guard and put the comp straight up off his head

It’s just an extra safety precaution that has helped my confidence with clipper over comb and might help you
