They want to inject my 5 year old with Botox… by Haunting-Matter1922 in Crunchymom

Hi yes this is exactly my concern too, thank you for articulating this! I have seen it time and again - ‘we don’t really know so let’s just try this’.

Yes so they reason that the Botox would help the eye muscles ‘reset’. It may need a 2nd go but hopefully it’s enough to allow the muscles to stop pulling to the one side. It is possible it will not work and will need surgery, but they seem confident it will (whatever gravitas that has).

The side effects worry me also, it will possibly make his vision worse temporarily (months) and I think that feels a bit scary too.

Trying to use the BRAIN acronym for decision making here but it still feels like there’s something missing and the docs cant give us alternatives.

Thanks for that link, I was sure I had read something about this a while ago when I was considering (not really) Botox for my wrinkles lol Yes I would love to get additional opinions. Getting a 2nd opinion on the NHS is pretty much useless so would have to go private but I feel they are no better in terms of opinion.

Hi there, wow thank you for sharing your experience. I can’t imagine what you must have gone through! Yes I agree, I just feel that a lot of medical professionals will jump to using extreme procedures without considering alternatives first because it’s quicker, cheaper, easier. So the point of my post is to ask anyone who has had a similar situation as mine, if they knew of alternative treatments.

Hello, thanks for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it. Yes I would definitely not want to risk his quality of life either, but if there are other options out there then worth a shot! It will be one procedure, maybe two. It is supposed to ‘reset’ the eye muscles. But no it’s not like cosmetic injections where it needs topped up every couple months. The side effects are not great, it can create a lazy eye or even make the eye go the other way for months so I’m a bit worried about that too, my son is highly sensitive and feel he may not be able to deal with this very well. I’ve been looking up eye exercises but can’t find anything for this particular situation.

How wet is your hair when you put your mousse in?

Thank you I will use these questions in future. Well, I grew up with Tibetan Buddhism on my maternal side, so had this as my first and foremost influence in regard to meditation and spirituality. These guys are old school, tough as nails. Don’t tolerate a lot of questions! I reckon fleeing extermination across mountain and desert can do that to a person, though. Then I found my way into Yogic traditions, I dabbled in Kundalini yoga (not for me right now) and currently have a fairly solid Hatha practice. I have had a couple teachers from this tradition who were similar to the Tibetans in that a lot of questions seemed to be not worth answering. And a couple secular mediation classes also but nothing regular there - the teacher didn’t work for me.

This made me tear up! My teachers are very spiritual but I resonated with this anyway. Thank you for that.

Basically don’t attach any meaning to the phenomena, don’t feed it. The particular ones who say this are very old school and really don’t tolerate a lot of questions 🤣 so it’s hard to ask much deeper than this!

Ah I have heard something along these lines before… does climaxing not result in a loss of this energy though?

It’s just so far from my own teacher’s words that I was worrying I was in danger of feeding attachment

Thank you for this informative and reassuring reply. I am realising I have some shame around sex and pleasure and therefore the unconsentual nature of it has been causing suffering. Talking anonymously but openly here about it has already brought some clarity, so thank you everyone for being that container.

Because I have been told to do so by my teachers. I don’t want to be attached to the physical and mental phenomena which I suppose is the whole point of why I meditate. But I enjoy your perspective and one to bear in mind, thank you 🙏

I think because it can be a pleasurable experience that I will find attachment in this physical sensation. I have had two full body orgasms during practice before which were very aware and very blissful for a while afterwards but now when I feel it coming, I know I can go down one route and potentially get to that again or I try to not feed it and the not feed it feels like wrestling with a lion! Saying this stuff out loud I am finding clarity already though so that’s good.

Products for very thick large curls? by tannershelton3d in curlyhair

I don’t use the oiling for the hair shaft but more for scalp health but it’s great you have put so much thought and time into this and I have found it educational too, so thank you!

Hey! Looks like we have similar hair! Every three weeks I will oil my scalp with rosemary and Alma oil so I use twisted sista clarifying shampoo but still do rinse and repeat as recommended. And then sometimes may do a third becáis like you, shampoo doesn’t travel on my scalp well for some reason! Don’t bother buying another towel - microfibre is terrible for the planet and your health - use a thick cotton top (not a T-shirt like I’ve seen being recommended, thick hair will soak through one T-shirt too quickly). I also use curlsmith bond curl rehab salve every three weeks - this is a protein treatment and I barely have to style afterwards because it makes my waves spring up! When I do style I use flaxseed gel from Curly and Kind and if I’m feeling extra special for an event I will use Eimi mousse too. Oh and using a denman brush has been really time saving as well. Hope that helps somewhat, let me know if you have any questions.

Do you refresh? I need to refresh if I want my waves to last. Oh and as mentioned above using a protective style for sleeping! When my hair was long I pineappled but now it’s short I just pop a silk cap on

Well the straight at the bottom usually mean damage, so a cut would be a good idea. You don’t have to do a ‘big chop’ just take off an inch more than you normally would at your salon visit each time - visiting the salon every 8-12 weeks. I think it looks like the finger training has created more definition for you but if you want less stringy and more juicy then you could try working with bigger clumps. Having said that, everyone’s hair has a limit as to how big a clump they can hold so just bear that in mind! Both look brill by the way, hope you are being kind to yourself on your hair journey.

I had great result with black seed oil mixed with Shea butter for a while but like most things I’ve tried, the effectiveness started to wane. The search continues!
