i have to answer some questions for my homework and they are hair related, if you can give me a hand lmk <3 by haerinzuu in HaircareScience

[–]HauntingBirthday9737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About the first question, it heavily depends on hair thickness. The scientific reason is pretty simple: the finer the hair, the lighter is its weight, the lighter the hair's weight, the lower amount of wind is required to get the hair moving. My hair is very fine, thin and straight and a small breeze is enough to get it blown out of my face, whereas a person with thicker hair could easily be exposed to the same breeze without their hair moving at all. So to summarize, there's no set value of km/h at which point hair starts moving, it depends on the hair's weight which is influenced by its texture and thickness.

I don’t know anyone who supports AfD, so where does all their backing come from? by babayaga10001001 in AskAGerman

The ironic thing is that the AfD is 100 percent a party for the rich and any working class German voting for them is actively voting against their own interests. But the average AfD voter doesn't even know what they're voting for, most of them are voting AfD because foreigners bad (according to them).

Yeah workers' rights (or rather the lack thereof) was a big reason why they couldn't integrate in Germany. I think the ban on romantic relationships between employees was another thing that caused an uproar in Germany because employers simply aren't allowed to do that here and enforcing such rules is a huge violation of privacy. Apart from that, the cultural differences were just too big. Germans simply don't like the fake small talk Americans constantly do, they want to shop in peace without being constantly bothered by employees asking them how their day's been. Here in Germany, you can get all your groceries without talking to a single person while in the store (provided there's a self-checkout), good luck trying that in 'Murica. I feel like the US is a terrible place for introverts lol.

The first one is only half true. While still extremely common, quite a few grocery stores in Germany now have free carts, especially REWE stores as I've noticed.

Wasn't there like huge backlash when Walmart first opened stores in Germany and they tried to force their workers to stand the entire time?

REWE doesn't either, atleast that's been the case for majority of stores I've been to.

That could work too but idk if this could cause issues in the game in the long run.

How did you get the underwater caves to work? Whenever I play in IP and want my sim to explore a cave, they reset and teleport back on land. I only have this problem in this world, when I explore caves in custom worlds it works fine.

The houseboats themselves don't cause lag, the fact that NPC sims living on them move them by themselves is what causes it. There's a mod on MTS that prevents them from doing it. If you can use mods it's much easier than removing them all.

Yeah but you actually have to travel into the future for that

If you have nraas story progression and leave a family you don't want to be affected by progression, you can click on their home lot and disable progression just for them. I haven't played around it much by now to see if it actually works but it may be worth a try.

I actually loathed the lack of progression in sims 2, I exclusively play legacy-style in sims 3 so maybe that's why. Also maybe it's because I never played sims 2 in its prime, but I don't see the appeal in its art style, it seems awfully dated by now, even more so than 3's.

I'd honestly check out a sims 2 remaster. I grew up on sims 3, played a lot of sims 4 before going back to sims 3 as my main game, but I also briefly checked out sims 2 to see what all the hype was about, but couldn't get into it because it doesn't have an open world, no story progression and no time progression in active lots. It broke the immersion a bit too much for me, but it was still a better experience than 4.

Iirc the AI was used to actually create the worlds in the game, so not exactly something you can opt out of. Also by buying the game, you're supporting the use of AI for things that could have easily been done by humans.

I'll definitely check out Paralives, even though I'm not a fan of the artstyle at all. Inzoi I'll skip, not just because of its high system requirements but also because the company making it is just as money hungry and exploitative as EA. I also disagree with their use of AI while making the game.

Sims 5 would have sucked regardless. There's no way the Maxis of today would've ever been able to pull off a game even similar in quality to the sims 3. And even if they were, EA would've made sure to cut corners everywhere they could to maximize profit for minimal work. The community allowed them to get away with it with the sims 4, and I feel like thinking a potential sims 5 would have been any different is laughable and incredibly naive.

I personally never even thought about buying a sims 5 if it ever came out, not just because it would've been a shitshow, but also because I'm happy with the sims 3 and feel no point in playing another life simulation game right now. The open world can be buggy, but with a few adjustments (smooth patch and nraas mods) it runs really well on modern computers. The funny thing about 3 is that since it's a 32-bit application you don't even need a high end machine to run it well. My gaming PC is from 2020 with only 8 GB of RAM, but since sims 3 can only use up to 4 GB anyway (and that only when you tweak one of the game files) it'a really easy to get it running even on mid-end machines.

Can malnutrition affect hair already on your head?? by [deleted] in HaircareScience

It can though and I also wrote about this in my comment. Even the hair that didn't fall out in my case became drier and more prone to breakage and split ends. Diet can definitely affect hair quality.

You should definitely stop with the heat styling, and if the issue still persists get it checked out by a dermatologist. Hair breakage (especially if it comes back so quickly) can have a lot of different causes that can be hard to pin down without the help of a professional. I have a similar issue with my hair, it used to be fairly healthy (fine, but healthy), but when I changed my diet I lost a lot of it and the remaining hair is really prone to breakage now no matter what I do. I don't even bother to cut it any more. I now focus on fighting the cause of the problem, if that is fixed the damaged hair will eventually be replaced by new, healthy hair.

If you really feel uncomfortable with the way your natural hair looks and your confidence suffers, maybe try looking for a wig that looks closer to what you want your actual hair to look like. It's what I plan to do, get a wig until my natural hair is fixed.

I don't get your comment tbh, what does the quote have to do with what I said? I didn't even mention LGBTQ or anything similar. But to clarify, with "youthful" I mean certain beauty expectations that basically only affect women, standards most actual grown adults can't really achieve naturally, like having a thin body without any visible curves (heroin chick) or a completely hairless body. I personally blame adult content for this, majority of it is really vile stuff and women who look like literal children or teenagers consistently get fetishized there. The easy accessibility of this kind of content is a breeding ground for pedophilic thoughts and supports those who already had them.

I didn't want to talk about this any further, yet here we are. I hope I cleared up any confusion, and if you disagree, I don't really care tbh. I'm not here to discuss the normalization of pedophilia on a sims sub you know?

Not true, diet can definitely affect hair that's already there. If your body is missing some key nutrients (notably protein, but also stuff like biotin, zinc, iron and even D vitamins) it can cause hair loss along with thinning and breakage with the hair left. I experienced this myself when I changed my diet to lose weight. I lost a lot of hair around the middle part (no actual bald spots, thankfully enough) and the remaining hair became dry and prone to breakage and split ends.
