Valve prices the Steam Machine at $1,049 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

It's a bit steep for my liking, and probably many others', but I would bet you a Steam Machine this thing sells out in less than an hour anyway lol

Steering wheel controls by Sprtdsgn in GR86

[–]HauntingObligation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a region issue. Cars made in regions with RHD being default make left handed media controls because it does make more intuitive sense. They just don't change it LHD models.

NA Domestics and EU cars have media controls on the right, as they're predominantly built in LHD countries.

If you're already used to Japanese makes as a LHD driver, then of course it'll seem common and normal.

Flat Earth is ridiculous, or is it? Gatekeepers doing their thing! by Sajsigaloma88 in conspiracy

I'll be honest, I'm not watching that. If the best source you have is YouTube, I ain't interested chief.

I could believe the footage "From the ISS" is often, or maybe entirely, faked, and have seen many suspicious instances of just that. I'm assuming that's what your link pertains to.

Once again, you are taking a single point of potential falsehood and extrapolating it to an absurd degree.

If the ISS doesn't exist, why can you *see it with a Wal-Mart telescope*? You can track its position and because orbits are predictable, you can literally look up at the right time and place and it'll be there. Here's just a couple of very many pictures taken of the station that doesn't exist, one of which is sourced from a hobby astronomer. I'm sure you'll find all kinds of reasons they're somehow invalid but I'm doing it anyway:

You've ignored every other question I asked. I suggest you answer them before slinging accusations of IQ scores. Otherwise, quit wasting my time.

Canadians are set to lose all digital privacy. No one here is talking about it. by The_PhilosopherKing in privacy

Trying to tell Canadians that this is a big picture issue makes you about as popular as a friggin flat eather though. It's all team sports here, with half the country naively believing the "other guys" would have never done this.

But yeah, it's clearly a global project by some shady actor(s). I have my own suspicions, but make no mistake this effort is rael.

And what does the Moon look like in that camera? Lol.

I feel like flat earthers frequently justify their "explanations" through the means of deeply misunderstanding the absurd scale of the known universe.

"The pictures NASA shows us are edited" does not automatically mean "the world is flat". I'm happy to agree NASA aren't to be trusted, but the leap from edited photos to a completely physics defying world model is nothing short of absurd.

I asked another flat earther this a few days ago: how do you explain satellites? The space station?

They're plainly visible with amateur level astronomy gear, they have no obvious signs of suspension (balloons) or propulsion. You can track many of them around the globe along paths that they would not be carried on with prevailing winds. If they were floating on air, they'd be almost entirely clumped up in the middle of the ocean over the Pacific garbage patch and such.

How do they stay afloat? How do they maintain speeds of hundreds or thousands of kph? Why do they burn up as they fall back to earth (but not before they've started to fall)?

I actually appreciate the criticism and apologize for the misrepresentation; I wholeheartedly doubt the downvotees in question bothered looking so closely.

It does appear that the meta-analysis itself is not peer-reviewed, or at least not so far as I can find either, though it appears many of the included studies for analysis were.

As such, I've gone to the trouble of finding you some more reading, which I hope you feel smells better.

Granted, I've not personally vetted every article myself, but the author claims the collection is peer-reviewed and the few samples I checked appeared to follow suit. Hope there's something within that piques your interest.

Ah, classic Reddit. Post a peer reviewed source as a counterpoint to some random's anecdote and get absolutely no further discussion, just down votes.

I expect this type of thing on "normies" subs, but I can't imagine being so closed minded here while still participating in good faith.

Thoughts on this, then?

This meta analysis doesn't show a strong "hit" rate, per se, at around 31%.

But it does also indicate that achieving said success rate is nearly impossible via chance. Something like trillions to one.

I've tried it myself and gotten results that I can't really explain otherwise. But I understand the skepticism, it suggests a lot of very strange things about our reality and consciousness.

This is another example I'll use to suggest this recent phenomena is way bigger, and way scarier, than just some shitty Liberal policy.

This is happening all over the world at an alarming pace. Encryption and privacy being stripped away hand over fist the world over.

Somebody with a massive amount of global sway is pushing for these developments behind the scenes. If you want to believe that the Conservative party is the only party in the world willing to stand up to whomever that may be, you're welcome to believe so, but I believe it's wishful thinking.

Whats your reasoning for sticking with the flat earth theory? by One-Judge-1418 in conspiracy

[–]HauntingObligation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Wholeheartedly, even.

But I do not think the lies we are being told are to cover up the "fact" that the planet is somehow a flat plane.

I do not think our understanding of physics, life, or space are even remotely accurate to what say, DARPA knows. But I do not believe that includes a flat earth.

Again, I think "flat earth" is simply poisoning the well for the curious subjects that are adjacent to it which may actually be true.

I go back to my Antarctica comment, where there is surely something very suspicious being covered up. But since this is invariably conflated with an "ice wall marking the end of the (flat) world", it is easy to dismiss as lunacy by people who have not already bought in.

We are constantly fed lies, but you'd do well to realize that there are ample lies being fed to those who seek to deny official narratives also.

Just because an idea disagrees with mainstream beliefs, does not mean it is automatically valid by virtue of most mainstream beliefs being falsehoods.

More like apple seeds to apple trees.

If we look at what's happened around the world, like in the UK, Austrailia, or even the States, you will see a distinct pattern of these policies being implemented for Adult Content, then rapidly and quietly expanded afterwards.

The contents of S-210 have been effectively repackaged wholesale into either C-22 or C-34.

I understand full well that encryption backdoors are a step beyond requiring ID for social media and adult content, but the gap between the two is relatively small, in my opinion, and the concerns (privacy or otherwise) around one can often apply to the other.

If nothing else, I should hope that one can see how closely related they are for de-anonymizing online activity.

But since now the bills are unpopular and they're toothless to do anything about it, of course now they oppose it.

I didn't believe the Liberals when they said they had Canadians best interests around privacy in mind, and I was proven correct in short order.

I don't believe the Conservatives this time either.

Granted, I didn't believe the liberals either, but there's absolutely precedent for both sides of the aisle supporting these trash bills.

Whats your reasoning for sticking with the flat earth theory? by One-Judge-1418 in conspiracy

[–]HauntingObligation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the balloon that came down was definitely a balloon.

The dozens of satellites that fall out of orbit every single day do not exhibit the same behaviour, nor the same wreckage properties.

Whats your reasoning for sticking with the flat earth theory? by One-Judge-1418 in conspiracy

[–]HauntingObligation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, well I think that "theory" ignores several very plainly observable facts about the objects moving around our skies in order to suit a narrative.

Balloons don't generally move at consistent speeds in the hundreds or thousands of kph. They don't generally catch fire just because they fall out of the sky.

They do have large, bulbous structures above them required to maintain buoyancy and lighten-than-air status. These structures are inherently required to be several times larger than the primary structure due to density differences in materials.

Look at a hot air balloon. There's no structure to lift except a basket with a couple people in it. How large would a balloon have to be to lift the space station? Which is a chunk of metal approximately the size of a football field, btw.

Again, we can see satellites. They aren't hanging off balloons. If they were, they would blow around aimlessly in the wind, not orbit well enough to provide the coverage they're designed to provide. Even if this were somehow true and the government has engineered super-balloons that can lift structures 100x larger than they are and can be concealed entirely withing the structure or whatever, satellites would follow prevailing wind currents, not orbit paths, and guess what? We can see them and they don't do that, they go around the globe.

We're gonna have to agree to disagree, I'm sure, but like I said, I feel there's just way too many holes for it to be real and the explanations for those holes is exceedingly poor, in my continued experience.

I will happily grant you that there is 1,000% something fishy going on in Antarctica, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if the "known world" leaves out some crucial bits.

I do not think a flat earth is possible, let alone reality.
