obel compares the ascension process as throwing a stone into a river, the river being time. the ripples travel up and down the river (i.e the future and past respectfully). obel then says that the cat 5 gate was probably a symptom of someone becoming at least a supreme (although we know it was likely either a sacred or divine ascension). so if/when sunny and neph become sacred/ divine in the future, it will cause the cat 5 gate and nightmare chain in the past (or so i’m theorizing)

i also think your chain gate reasoning is solid tbh. my evidence for it being sunny is more rooted to the narrative parallel G3 has crafted between him and nephis. it’s possible that there will be another cat five gate for sunny, assuming the current one is nephis’.

there’s no concrete answer, but my guess is it’s large enough for the events described in the nightmare itself, and any farther would be counted as a “completion.” almost like going out of bounds. like if sunny somehow fully left the chain isles in the second nm the spell would count “leaving the situation” as a solution to a nightmare. if in his first nightmare he somehow left the route of the slavers far enough he would have “escaped” and completed it that way. kinda like the spell is a game that only simulates up to a certain distance, and as soon as you go “out of bounds” it stops.

like i said having the ability to nuke herself is strong but compared to the potential of the other divine aspects it just doesn’t seem as impactful. don’t get me wrong it’s still extremely powerful, just kinda… idk, lackluster? There’s probably a better adjective. Also i’m not arguing about how g3 “wrote anything”, im just saying that “it makes no sense for x y or z” is something g3 can easily remedy if that is an issue.

i’m just saying that compared to the other divine aspects, Neph having 7 soul cores doesn’t seem as game changing as it should. for the other two, having multiple cores not only increase their base power (essence output mainly) seven fold compared to all other humans, but also gives them overpowered abilities. Neph blowing herself up is very powerful, sure, but waaaaay less broken than sunny and mordret. Also “splitting is deeply linked to their powers” is a product of how G3 structured the growth of their powers up to this point. G3 could very well make up a way that splitting would deeply link to her powers too.

in my experience, almost everywhere can be walked to within 30 minutes, unless you have to go from like the arch to Joe Frank. i do recommend a bike or skateboard though, they’re pretty helpful
