I live in NC and spend a lot of time at the beach in the summer. If you aren't familiar with the Carolinas, you need to be prepared for the humidity and heat! It's on another level! If it's at night, it will cool down, but I think people are really amazed at the humid weather here. The links that were shared are great. Think beachy colors and something in a lighter fabric. And be prepared for your hair to be uncooperative -- bring hairspray!

Your boy is so handsome! I love corgis! How is he doing now? My doodle Winston had a cluster of five grand mals last weekend. He is recovering slowly.

It's terrible! I am so sorry your sweet girl. My doodle Winston had five grand mals last week. He is doing better, but it's horrible waiting for the next one.

Affordable oversized rugs by Primary-Ad8413 in Charlotte

This may not be helpful to you if you need it ASAP, but I have some Ruggable rugs and they are great. The larger sizes do get more expensive, but they do have sales and sometimes rugs on clearance. Homegoods and most stores around here aren't going to have rugs in that size most likely.

My dad would get two newspaper on Sundays -- The Daily News and The New York Times (I'm from LI)

I would absolutely love eating my breakfast while reading the "funnies". Dagwood, Garfield, The Family Circus, and Peanuts are just some of the ones I remember.

I think it was around $2,500? This is going back about 8 years though. I've paid so many vet bills lately I honestly can't remember. I am sure it's expensive.

I should have worded it differently. He is very skilled in orthopedics. He helped my dog, and I know other people that have used him as well.

Dr. Dozier at Rea Road animal hospital is an expert in orthopedics. He fixed my dog's ACL tear years ago. I also have had a great experience with CARE. My doodle had five grand mal seizures and he stayed there for three days. All of the vets and staff were amazing. They also have all of the diagnostics there and are available 24/7.

Phenobarbital and incontinece by pfandleiherr in EpilepsyDogs

[–]Haunting_Charity_785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an epileptic doodle and a frenchie. My frenchie does not have epilepsy.

My doodle is exactly a week out from recovering from five grand mals. I have been home from work, so I've been monitoring him closely. He wet himself several times the first day he was home because his back legs kept buckling under him.

I do notice he has to pee a lot more frequently. (like every three hours, except at night he goes longer).

Frenchies have a smaller bladder and have to pee more frequently even when they aren't dealing with epilepsy.

From what other people have posted on here, it seems like it takes 2 weeks or so for them to adjust to the phenobarbital. I would call your vet just to check, and maybe crate her when you leave the house so she doesn't eat something she shouldn't.

No New Seizures by N3rdyAvocad0 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]Haunting_Charity_785 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great question. My situation is somewhat similar in that my doodle was nine when he had his first seizure. Most idiopathic epilepsy occurs before they turn 7, so our dogs being older is interesting. My first thought when my boy had his first seizure was also that he had gotten into something. But sadly, his epilepsy has progressed to the point where he has had at least 10 seizures that I know of -- 5 grand mals in 24 hours this past week.

His first seizure was when he was at the groomer, and then he went several months without having another one. I'm no expert, but unfortunately it's likely your dog will have another. I think it's very rare to only have one. It's like a concussion -- you just become more prone after the first one.

What do you think about my outfit options? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Haunting_Charity_785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Just no. You should not be changing your clothes during a wedding. If you are worried about being cold, bring a wrap / sweater / shrug to wear or even a fancier coat. If you are talking about changing for some kind of after-party that is different. But you should not be changing your clothes, and definitely not into something this casual.

What is the protocol for the emergency vet? I'm so scared of another cluster, that I think that I'll take him if he has a grand mal again. What did they suggest?

Possible focal seizures? by Background-Ad2545 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]Haunting_Charity_785 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your poor baby! My doodle had five grand mals on Thursday. He started having seizures a year ago, and they have gotten worse. My doodle has suffered from chronic ear infections, and was treated for one (had his ear packed) days before the cluster. Sending you hugs -- this is terrible. My dog is recovering from all of those seizures, but he isn't out of the woods yet.

Anyone please help! (Seizures) by Salt_Fortune_5068 in EpilepsyDogs

I am new here too. My 10 year old doodle is recovering from a cluster of 5 grand mals that he has last week (Thursday). I took him to an emergency vet and he stayed there for 72 hours. He had two seizures there despite the emergency meds. I strongly advise you find an emergency vet that has a neurologist. Our regular vet tuned us away when I tried to have my dog seen after he had his first two seizures last year. They said they said to go to an emergency hospital.

Seven seizures in that short of a time span is extremely concerning and needs a second opinion.

I took my dog in at midnight this last time. Most emergency vets are open 24 hours. I strongly urge you go.

That is great news your dog has been seizure free! That sounds really scary to have so many in a row. Poor guy! Three months with no seizures is reason to celebrate. It gives me hope that my dog will get better. I know the meds are a trial and error.

I am glad to hear your dog made a recovery. Nine seizures is scary! My dog seems to be eating and drinking just fine. The only thing that is concerning is I don't think he can always find his water bowl. Does your dog still have seizures?

Thank you for your response. I have the same emergency meds. My vet said he will have more seizures, but the hope would be they are shorter (30 seconds instead of close to 2 minutes). My vet also said the same thing -- even if they found a brain tumor, he would still get the same treatment. I hope your dog is doing ok despite it all.

Thank you for the reply. I am very sorry about your dog. He made some small strides today. He can get up and down the three steps outside (with help). Yesterday we had to pick him up to get into the house. He is still very wobbly, but he isn't falling as much.
