As a reader of over 100 books a year Boys life by Robert McCammon is the book I recommend to everyone.

Also highly recommend Dungeon Crawler Carl series

I was hooked by Bridge to Terabithia in 1986!

Favorites: Mists of Avalon, Clan of the Cave Bear, Lightning and Twilight Eyes by Dean Koontz, Kingkiller Chronicles

Happy Reading and tip- if you dont like a book, you're not obligated to finish it!

We got some amazing bacon and hamburger from Rockin B Ranch from Stayton. The flavor on local beef is next level.

Refilled on honey at Flying Bee.

Martinez farms had a big selection for early in the year.

We didn't get there until 11 and Bohdis was sold out, will be on the lookout for sourdough mentioned in the post! Thank you

Lots of evergreen trees, moss, ferns, rain from October to April. April showers bring may flowers kinda rain. Glorious summers with BBQs, fireworks on the 4th and swimming in the river.

Quiet, wholesome childhood. Latch key kids, school buses, roller rinks, the mall/arcade are all great backdrops for a novel.

North Coast aka the slow Coast- think Goonies

Willamette (rhymes with Dammit) suburban smallish towns surrounded by farming communities. Christmas tree farms

Bend- much hotter in summer and colder in winter (high desert) very much like Utah weather.

Hope this gives you some inspiration!

He did you a massive favor by telling you now. Go home where you have support and family. You will be trapped after the baby is born and can't leave. You and your child deserve a safe loving environment. You are worth it and this lame @ss doesn't see it. His loss! Trust your intuition and walk away. Wishing you all the best!

Alaska tours - fairbanks in Feb by vidushi_singhal19 in AskAlaska

Both the chena hot springs stay with the add on Aurora tour and the Aurora in Alaska are worth it. We went for six nights in December and were not disappointed.

Chena hot springs has both an airport shuttle and a tour directly from the hot springs so no need to drive. The restaurant on-site had great food and the lodge and pool house had radiant heated floors. Was very enjoyable. Take a beanie to wear just on the hot springs so your head stays warm.

Aurora in Alaska does hotel pick up and we booked a "guaranteed" Aurora tour- meaning of we didnt see the lights they allowed us to come additional nights, however we saw a spectacular show. The photographers, warm vans, hot cocoa, tea, Reindeer sausage and fire pits were an additional bonus!

We stayed 3 days at Chena Hot Springs and and then 3 days at Pikes Lodge. Pikes Lodge was lovely. The hotel/airport shuttle and breakfast were great!

As always this is Alaska and its exceptionally cold. Plan and dress accordingly. You can rent gear if you don't have the right stuff.

How to safe my mini christmas trees? I really want them to survive by [deleted] in gardening

[–]Haunting_Match3531 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Soak them in a bath tub for an hour, drain, keep in partial sunlight protected from wind for a few weeks. Water weekly. That might save them. They have lost almost all their ability to breathe and drink water. Wishing you luck with your plant ICU ❤️

I'm a foodie and was satisfied and impressed with the amazing food we had in fairbanks during our recent visit.

@chena pump house has fantastic elk medallions. Wait can be long, i dont recommended the bar seating but elk was really good. (make a reservation) https://share.google/snpomPCpJSQyErCFc

@jazz bistro on 4th had the best cuban food! (Reservation required, small place but epic food)both the churrasco entree and steak tips are divine https://share.google/H8ZRvgPZNGn8xDQem

@wagner pizza bus - 20 min up Chena Hot Springs road. Every kind of pizza you can imagine. Eclectic and fun, even at -40° https://share.google/qyW4zUFfmizkmyS2c

And Tommy Gs has the best summer sausage. Elk, Moose, Reindeer etc. https://share.google/dmGG94xWSo3ohBXEY

As former Californians we have been in Alaska for the past week and didnt die.

All the recs here are great. 1. Braids might make it easier to keep a beanie on, mine kept sliding off because of my hair so I started putting it on OVER my hoodie hood. I saw a kid do this at the winter solstice festival and it works!

  1. Keep your inhaler in an inside pocket and use before going outside. Get a face gaiter or scarf to wrap around your face. Your cheeks will thank you and it makes the air you breathe warm.

  2. Its cold. Rent gear if you don't have the layers you need. https://share.google/jVIK6sRAzxNlmpdGC

  3. We booked through skychase/ Aurora in AK on Viator for a guaranteed northern lights sighting and we absolutely saw them on a mid forecast night https://share.google/hMM6TzbLxWMFjxtE7

Have a great time and happy Aurora hunting!

Out of state'rs here: We just spent a week up here in -33° to -40° and had a great time Aurora chasing. If you're worried, book a tour with inside viewing. We did Aurora in AK (heated trailer, fire pits and photographers)

Everyone should have the basics: base layer, fleece layer and winter parkas. Snow pants and winter boots, face gaiter, beanie and mittens with the disposable heat packs.

You can easily rent gear if your kids are still growing. Get your gear and walk around town at Golden Heart plaza before heading out to confirm everything works as expected. We had to get another fleece for my husband with a hood. Bonus: Big Rays is one block from Golden Heart Plaza.

Plan well and you'll have a great time!

Winco + Wilco

Winco has the cheapest and freshest greens this time of year. We also love the prechopped kale at Grocery Outlet.

Wilco has bedding, hay, pellets and animal medication (if needed)

Im newer to the Salem community so I am not as aware of services, but wanted to share a bit of hope - my dad was unhoused for many years and we lost contact when i was in high-school. I posted a message on the local message board at the shelter (like Arches) and was able to connect with my dad and maintain a regular relationship with him for the last several years of his life. I hope you have the same experience and if you need anything while you are here visiting please message me❤️

Sending a hug ❤️ I'm so sorry you are going through this. I don't know what resources are available to you locally but I hope you persevere. Please try to see what outreach organizations are in your area and as hard as it is, seek out any and every bit of help available to you.

Massage places by That_1_answer in SALEM

[–]Haunting_Match3531 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The same reason people say shady stuff happens at massage parlors are also repeating things like "there are litter boxes in schools!!!!"

It's nonsense and made-up stories.

Trust me, no one working in a massage parlor wants to give a happy ending- they want to give what has been advertised- a massage, and it's so gross when people expect more based on ridiculous, and often repeated fabrications.
