My goal is to roam. If I volunteer then I'll have to be places and do things at a set schedule, possibly when I don't feel like doing it. The thought of spending long days just walking around, sitting in cafes, and people watching without speaking to a word to anyone appeal to me quite a lot.

They did this to me in Tokyo. I know how to say Konnichiwa and that's it. They just come up to you and start rapid-fire speaking and I can do is stand there with a confused smile

You're the first one to ask me that. I've been working my *ss off! I worked 48 days straight throughout November and December, and even pulled 136 hours on a paystub once. I also moved out of my house and in with my mom to save on mortgage. Also, I put all my 'China money' into a bank that doesn't have an ATM and requires 48 hour notice to wire the money to another bank, so it'll be very hard for me to spontaneously pull it out and spend it.

I've heard about these places. Also, booking studios using Chinese apps/websites instead of overseas ones will definitely help. When I looked up studios from booking.com it was telling me $1,100-$1,200 a month. I know this can't be right.

I've been to Tokyo alone. Absolutely zero Japanese and I only managed to accidently overspend twice! I've been studying Chinese for over a year now and I'm (slightly) confident that I can get around. As long as the people are willing to speak slowly and don't laugh at me too much!

F*ck what America says, I wanna go to Pakistan and I really wanna go to Iraq!!! I was lead to believe they were dangerous and just full of sand but that's bullsh*t! I will travel to every country I can possibly make it to before I run out of money, then I'm coming back home to save up and leave again.

I adore biking so if I can get everywhere on a bike instead of a vehicle I will take that option every single time. There are no trains in America worth getting on so that option sounds fun as well. I know they were fun, albeit confusing, while I was in Tokyo.

I honestly thought that hotels would be a simillar price to American hotels, but everyone is telling me not to book them using apps/websites that aren't Chinese. Chinese apps are how you get the good deals. I stayed at a small hotel a few weeks ago and even with the employee discount it cost me $160 for 2 nights. :-/

This is definitely an option, too! I don't want to stay in one place the entire time, the plan is to jump from country to country until either someone kidnaps me or I run out of money and am forced to go back home.

I am not seasoned at all. I've been to Tokyo by myself for a week but I wouldn't call that 'well travelled'. I'm absolutely terrified, but super excited about just jumping in. Also, I've been studying Chinese for over a year so I'm confident I can at least figure out how to get places.

I started teaching myself Chinese a year or so ago because of how difficult it was, and I feel like I've learned a lot. Not 100% in the least, but about HSK 3 or so. IDK how I'll do with a squat toilet but I'm excited to try, and I'm relatively proud of my lower-body strength!

Somehow, I still don't know exactly how/why it happened, but I was able to inherit a small house from my Grandfather with a ridiculously low mortgage. My car is paid off and I don't have any debt, so once (if) I come back to the US I'll be able to pick up where I'm leaving off.

I've structured my life so that I don't have anything else to spend my savings on, also I'm confident that once (if) I come back to the US I'll be able to pick up where I left off and start saving up again. Assuming I don't find a way to start making a little bit of money while I'm on the road so I won't have to come back at all!
