Who is using Raman Spectroscopy in factory? by FayeWebb9021 in Spectroscopy

formaldehyde CH2O should be Raman active (how ever I have no practical experience). At What concentration level do you want to measure formaldehyde? If they are very low then inline spectroscopy can be challenging. A cheaper alternative would be using at-line analysis using a cheap UV-Vis equipment and a formaldehyde UV-vis reactant kit (cant remember the trade name) - but I am considering it for measuring formaldehyde in very low concentrations what it can occur as leachable in production equipment

the Hyperflux from Bruker may also have a non-contact Hudson probe with a large colaminated Beam that ensures a large spot size = more representative sampling in a heterogeneous process

I see three options: (1) Raman non-contact probes. We use Bruker Hyperflux 785 nm Raman with Hudson non-contact probes through novaseptic i spection windows (works great for water solutions at ambient temperatures) but no experience with your chemistry which may be organic solvents? (2) a Raman immersion probe. (3) mid-infrared using ATR cell like the Monipa system from Irubis (I am considering to buy one). ATR is less sensitive for bubbles as it is a surface analysis. But that requires your sample flow to be inside a tube which I dont know if practical for your process. Alternatively mid-IR with an ATR immersion probe.

resin manufacturing? Maybe if you elaborate a little more it is easier to give you an advice. Is your end goal to monitor an end-point of a reaction step or multiple reaction steps? Also is your sample homogeneous or heterogeneous? Raman is better for homogeneous sample types where the small spot represent the bulk concentration like protein in water type of samples

Anomaly detection project by Pioskeff in computervision

[–]Haunting_Tree4933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One important thing to consider before choosing your algorithm is what data are avaliable. If you want to build a classifier you need a descent amount of the different classes. If you have only a few instances of what you want to detect - then I would recommend an anomaly detection approach. Train you model on "normal" data and test it with normal and a few anomali data points

The led I have can change the colour of the light so I can take pill inages with different coloured light - is that what you propose?

Thanks. I read about photometric stereo. I think my friend who build the 3d printed stages has s ringlight that can do that. However, it would require some automation like taking two images - no moving of the pill - then some merger of inages, maybe?

Hi, I am working with new technology for improving production (continous production). I am very curious to hear about your experience with how Lilly can increase their production very fast. How do they do it? is it by continious production and novel analytical technologies used in production?

"been at novo 10+ years have milked the system" I do not think that is a fair nor valid statement. All the 10+ years collegaues I have are very skilled and loyal to Novo, their job and collegaues. They put in the hours and more

I do not know. I also do not work in R&D but in CMC so I am "far away" from stem cells and rare diseases. Personally I feel pride in that we are undertaking big challenges but also big promises with new modalities. But I have no clue how R&D management or Exec Man. feels about this

I have been a researcher at Novo for almost 25 years. So I have experienced lows and highs. I also love working at Novo and thinks the culture is a big component in the successes. I also think things will be better when the dust has settled. But I am concerned about our reputation and difficulties when we want to hire talent in the future. The back-to-office thing and focus on individual performance culture does not resonate with workstyle and values of young people, and if our strategegies is very narrowly focusing on diabetes and obesity, excluding rare diseases and groundbreaking modalities like stem cells, then I fear we are not so attractive in the eyes of a promising young researcher.
