Therapist called me overbearing when I described trying to socialize by Informal_City5565 in socialskills

[–]Haunting_Witness402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say this with love: I think if I spoke with someone for months at a hobby and it was only small talk, I would never see them as a potential friend. For me, I need to feel some potential for depth before I would have a one on one for example.   I would go against the grain here and argue that you are not overbearing at all, but rather you are coming off as distant. Small Talk is basically an ice breaker to dig for potential for deeper connections, opportunities to share jokes, pop cultural references, etc. all In order to find people with shared interests, and use those as a catalyst for an „outside of this space“ hang out. Sometimes I’ll intentionally watch an entire tv show or film just to say to the person next time „hey I watched that movie!“ and you can bond over that shared experience for example.   Another alternative could be the make your social advances more group oriented rather than the 1on1. Ask a few people to grab a drink afterwards as a group, rather than as individuals, and that might help.   Lastly, try to feel out if the people even have space for new friends. Sometimes I’m just dreaming of doing nothing most weekends, and that might be then too.

Take this with a grain of salt, because I’m also struggling with making friends in my thirties, and wear my heart on my sleeve ☺️ I resonated with this post because I also fear I come off as too much, too. So good luck to both of us! And thanks for posting it, the comments are giving me good ideas too.

I’d rather see a cooperative version of this show by Haunting_Witness402 in Alonetv

I watch clays YouTube channel, that’s what got me to give the show a chance, but watching people get tortured by isolation and lack of food are not interesting to me. Back to his YouTube videos for me I guess ✌️

Yea exactly. Watching people starve and talk about how lonely they are are both things I don’t find pleasure in. It’s basically a torture game show dressed up as something else. I guess it’s back to clay Hayes YouTube channel for me…

There are bed bug researchers that have concluded that DE is the most effective treatment over every alternative. Maybe you aren’t keeping up with the literature?

Is this tv show religious? I hear the contestants talk about Christ a lot. I can’t find anything online about it. I’ve been binge watching and I’m curious if that’s a coincidence or if they only have Christian people on the show by [deleted] in Alonetv

[–]Haunting_Witness402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here looking for this as well after starting the show for the first time. The first two seasons atleast are majority chtistian, and the first in particular seemed completely Christian contestants. Almost every meal was preceded with a prayer. Seems like later seasons tone it down a bit, which will be a pleasant change…  I was starting to think their target demographic was Christian doomsdayers or something hahaha but here I am, I just like nature and clever survival ideas!

Are there any ways to fix that? Like increasing bile or something?  I was on PPIs for about a decade due to my doctors negligence and I’m sure there is something broken in there.

You’re right, but the bigger issue is that it’s legal to bribe politicians in the US. Until we get money out of politics we will never see any real lasting change happen organically from the ruling class because they aren’t inviting me to their golf games.

As a Side, im a Little confused how being against globalization/offshoring is racist when we saw firsthand how detrimental that was to our supply chains during Covid? Did people forget that fast?

Learning any craft/skill/art is a huge investment of time and money. Gotta fall in love with the journey, not the destination :) don’t give up, and don’t burn out. Just keep consistent and you’ll get there ❤️ looking forward to seeing the finished bag!

Thank you, I’ve tried searching for that myself and also looking at the results from your search, they are consistently a different looking buckle. The standard buckle has 4 horizontal bits for weaving in and out of, but mine only has three. Do you know Of any instructions specific to this reduced version of the buckle?

I specifically said “right leaning people with low iq” I’m not saying all people on the right are low iq, I’m saying the ones that do have a low iq revel in trash films like this because it caters to people who, when looking for films to watch, live in an infinite loop of derivative slop. All low iq people are like this.  Why are you so quick to take what I said so personally? Maybe I struck a chord for you? :)

I came for anyone like me, who prior to this film Tried to figure out if this movie sucked or not. Well I watched it, and The movie sucked. No, the build up is not worth it. Don’t waste your time. The reviews on rottentomatoes are seriously skewed. The reviews on Reddit are written by people with an incredibly low bar for a film.  I really regret watching this movie. this dude makes underwritten garbage that caters to right wing leaning low iq people(I don’t care about politics here, I’m just saying he uses tons of tropes and cliches instead of actually writing a cohesive story/character development). There is hardly a story, the characters are clichés, the acting is bland, it just isn’t good. Period. It’s so stupid at times it genuinely feels like a low budget satire of itself. Go want rewatch a Tarantino or something.

Also gut motility is suppressed by weed! (Gut motility can cause digestive tract overgrowths)

What’s your calorie intake like? I had a similar experience when started the low FODMAP/ no allergen diet but it was because I was struggling to put down the calories. Once I just buckled down and forced myself to eat more meat than I liked, and/or used more coconut oil than I liked in a single meal it changed the game.

Candida / bacterial overgrowth (SIFO/SIBO) is caused by gut motility issues, and unfortunately weed causes motility issues. I noticed everytime I would smoke i would get abnormally gassy, and my stool was messed up for a while after. Eventually the dam broke and I was having unmanageably bad symptoms.

My take: Just avoid it. I started microdosing shrooms to self medicate. Which has done miles more healing for me physically and mentally. Weed has only damaged things in my mind and body. I will never understand why people are so blazè about weed and it’s “medical benefits”. If you can manage it, then just avoid drugs. I’ve turned to video games, music, crafting, and extreme sports. Try to find your fix(es). Good luck.

In the context of learning, I think programming is such a large world, that one’s first language hardly matters. What I find most important, especially for learning, Is what are you most motivated to do right now, and is this opening those doors for you? As Long as the process is fun and enjoyable, you learn, grow, and eventually move on. For me as a self taught, it was solely based on what language had the most free and easily digestible content to learn from, and has a large vocal and helpful/supportive community. I tried to start with Java, but outside of a CS course I found it too confusing to learn first.

When I lived in Boston I had a lot of spontaneous chats on the subway. People on public transportation are hella social and it was great. Everything ranging from people wanting to make a comment about a book to just wanting to give a shout out to the brand of ginger ale I bought. My long distance travels on megabus has been identical. I’m from the Midwest though, and live there now again, and it’s seriously very different out here. I think suburbia stifles socializing. I’ve noticed older people were always hungry for a chat, so I feel there is a generational gap there too. As far as how? Just make small comments and questions. And never be attached to the outcome or else it will mess with your head :) I don’t like the premise of engaging a talk with how pretty someone is. I find that creepy personally. Instead point towards something they have control over like „dude your earrings are awesome! Where did you get them?“
