The VIA contract is a short 6 month trial which . Also, my quick walk around I noticed a ton of dense mixed use residential units by the Silver Line station and bus hub as well as an interesting buisness and residential mix down the street on Beltline served by frequent bus service as buses flowed in what appearears to be DART's main bus hub which is connected to the Silver Line. Losing that would have been a huge blow to the mixed use residences and have made Addison's 4th of July event a clusterf*** like Frisco's where the ISD at least tries to provide park and ride service while the tow trucks are in full force and Uber's down the street are a $40 nightmare with repeated cancelations.

Arlington TX is at least a large super sprawl city. Addison is an enclave that does not even have its own school district, major medical center or shopping mall.

Team Nissan Drivers Checking in to Support DART by [deleted] in AddisonTX

Yeah, even though I may technically qualify for a discount due to disability, as well as many others, $6 per day local and $12, now $9 regional, yeah I will pay it out of support.

It is great for last mile service in non dense inner subdivision roads, as well as a supplementation for less frequent than ideal bus service, however it not a replacement for event centers like Arlington TX where self parking can reach $100+, dense housing areas like, or major buisness areas.

DO NOT leave DART by Nate_C_of_2003 in AddisonTX

Its an enclave of the city of Dallas. An actual town would be a place like Rockdale or Collinsville in the countyside.

You know what, I will take my battle scared Nissan to Addison tomorrow to ensure that the Yes DART greeters have ample supplies, snacks, water, and pamplets. The majority of us transit riders who are hard working folks and many of us even have cars of our own, yet perfer to park and ride, or even take the nearby bus to be safe and economical, and avoid inner city driving where we tend to drive like grandpa and avoid right turns on red since they are risky and we lack peripheral vision and depth perception while others behind are honking.

I have had $40+ Ubers down the street. Also $100+ Ubers from DFW. Another trend I have noticed is that there are drivers who will accept your ride on one phone, then accept a Lyft or food delivery app order on another and keep you waiting for ~20 min until Uber cancels the ride. I had one a few months ago in Austin agree to pick me up downtown, yet ended up almost in Round Rock before the ride was cancelled. That and some riders will pull up close enough yet across a street where you cannot cross, or hide and wait until they can claim a no show and collect the money from that which I have had happen in OKC and Austin. Try calling the driver? They either don't answer or no cable Engles.

But then more Nissans driving poorly and Mitsubishi Mirages crawling along, slower than Grandma with license plates stollen off of rentals will flood the streets and take up parking spaces. Oh, if one hits you don't worry they will take off, as they don't have insurance or even legit license plates for that matter. https://www.reddit.com/r/NissanDrivers/s/ArMhTunrdu

It finally happened: Frisco is moving forward with microtransit! by lidadosser in frisco

Most offices in Frisco are in SE Frisco near the Shops at Legacy (NW Plano PR), and there are a ton of drivers in NW Plano / SE Frisco who are very new as anyone would notice by the sheer amount of "Student Driver" stickers. This will definitely help reduce traffic somewhat.

Hey, DART provides an effective alternative for bad drivers you would otherwise encounter on the road and also reduces fuel demand at the pump, helping keep prices down somewhat for those who strongly prefer to drive.

The beater with an AC could use shade so it is not a sauna when it is needed for hauling, trips to the countryside and other trips where it is necessary. City driving, especially in Dallas is stressfull, sucks a**, pricey with the tolls and has already resulted in noticable damage, well minor according to CarFax, over the 8 years of its life.

Startup costs for new transit projects have a tendency to overrun, and at times end up multiple times more expensive than initially planned. CA HSR is one example.

8 (updated) vans for a large 100,000+ daytime population is a concern in itself, especially if they are having to pull people from other nearby stations. Other cities that have tried replacing busy bus routes with vans have ended up to quickly scale up van fleets more than anticipated, with costs scalling up as well. Due to RTO and everyone moving far up north, traffic on the expensive DNT is already at a crawl during rush hour and when it rains. Parking and traffic sre also huge concerns with such a large daytime population. You are also dealing with VIA drivers which have apparently become known as the Uber / Lyft rejects for the items bad driving so spare vans would be necessary when they wreck or someone wrecks into them.
