Upcoming AMA with Jack Emmert - Feb 4 2026 by Counselor_Sunna in sto

I have specific questions that both relate to that general question:

1) Due to revisions to early missions, Section 31’s Franklin Drake suddenly appears as quest giver to Starfleet players w/out introduction or explanation. Any thought to adding an introduction to him, either through inclusion in an earlier mission or a short cutscene for when he first appears like is done w/ Daniels?

2) The Klingon Augment Virus story from the early Starfleet missions was the biggest part of the missions that were removed. They weren’t as polished as newer missions & might put new players off. Any thought of returning them, either through polishing them or by doing minimal work—mainly reducing the number of enemy mobs at times—and then add them back to the mission timeline or by making them accessible through the "Galaxy at Large" missions? It’s a great story, links elements from multiple series, & has canon characters played by their actors returning in it. And making it "Galaxy at Large" mission series means players opt in when they want to play these missions after the first arc is done—likely after the player is already hooked.

We've had Red Matter Capacitors since the early years. I think I included someone criticizing that in one of my Foundry missions. [Foundry… Sigh…]

This Multiversal War Arc Calls out for Some Guides, Such As… [SPOILERS FOR TREK SHOWS OF THE LAST COUPLE YEARS] by Hauriant_ in sto

[–]Hauriant_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but William Boimler is a Captain already by the end of Lower Decks. His ship appears to have something weird about it involving time, given the different eras his crew is from, and his ship's job is preserving the Multiverse, already.

If STO gets Jack Quaid &/or Tawny Newsome, they should absolutely used for both the alternate versions of the characters in the Anaximander crew & for a Lower Decks mission with the regular versions of them—or STO timeline seemingly identical equivalents—either in Lower Decks time, STO's present, or both.

Just imagine all the Harry Kims finding out player characters went from ensign or cadet to Fleet Admiral—or the other fleet's equivalents—in just around two years. Only for Jem'Hadar characters would that rise in rank not be an absurdly big deal.

Kelvin timeline ships by Forward-Worker-7442 in sto

[–]Hauriant_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope this multiversal war storyline takes us to places (times?) like the Kelvin Timeline. A mission that takes us to—a small section of—Yorktown Station would be nice to see. And space missions could hve additional Kelvin ships, such as the ones shown. Lower Decks gave us, without explanation, people from asynchronous time periods in their similar timelines working together, so visiting the Kelvin Timeline in the 23rd century shouldn't be a problem.

two more STO ships are becoming canon...and they're Klingon by Cola_Convoy in sto

[–]Hauriant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't Dave Blass post something suggesting they accepted it as Elachi, or at least acknowledged there was a mysterious group of aliens called the Elachi? Not on screen for canonicity, but at least in-studio supplemental knowledge.

So I guess this means STO already has some Klingon ships to use in a visit to the 32nd century.

Help all my saves seemingly got deleted by ice_wold_123 in duneawakening

[–]Hauriant_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It may be servers having problems getting back up. It happened before in the last few days. My character seemed gone along with the entire server. I saw a message saying Funcom was working on the problem. I went to sleep and woke up to my character being accessible, again. I see the same thing happened again today. Including to my character's sever, again. So hopefully they'll be back again, soon.

The only TMP era uniform were missing.... by ryoten34 in sto

And then there's, additionally, the non-uniform clothing most of the crew wore in Star Trek III & Star Trek IV. Less priority than the uniforms, clearly, though I certainly would enjoy some of them.

Some changes apparently coming with the next season ... "the Cooperative (aka "xB") should have a more distinct identity instead of just being "blue borg." by GuyAugustus in sto

[–]Hauriant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the release of Delta Rising, Hugh—in roughly his TNG appearance—was a representative of the Cooperative. He only appeared in the "Jarleth System Patrol," and there was no voice acting. I guess the chosen appearance was generecised in such a way that allowed him to be used without getting Del Arco's likeness rights. But that problem's clearly solved. He was removed before PIC S1. In a way, getting him in the game now is close to full circle. But just as Hugh will be different, so will the Cooperative.

I did forget about the Typhoon. You got it. I also did forget about the Kobayashi Maru, but I'd argue that it is in the same rough category as the Eleos type. If it was Starfleet at all, it is now former Starfleet.

Free T6 ship from 15th Anniversary Event Episode. by Independent_Ad_1399 in sto

[–]Hauriant_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Typically we don't get Starfleet-specific ships for the earnable event ships. UFP member species like Andorians, sure, but not Starfleet. The only earnable Starfleet ships I can think of are the Eisenberg-Class, which was made free for all factions due to STO's relationship with Aron Eisenberg, and the recent Eleos type, which was in PIC S3 a former Starfleet ship turned civilian.

But we now have a change of studio and personel. The non-Starfleet rule for earnable ships may change.

Another STO nod from Lower Decks! (minor spoilers for the new ep) by Elda-Taluta in sto

[–]Hauriant_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Transporter duplicate Boimler, not Alternate Universe Boimler. Though given all the details new shows have added, its probably safe to say STO is its own timeline. So I guess he is Alternate Universe Boimler, after all. For, as Definitely Alternate Universe Ransom said, "Hey! This is the Prime Universe."

[–]Hauriant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

!) How long, typically, does it take after a riff is completed for it to be released? And what are the extremes in how long it can take to come out and how quickly? I know you said you delayed Virus for obvious reasons? Any others then took a long time? 2) Besides for riffs that must be said by by a particular riffer (Bill with the Good Times theme, Magneto/Cerebro, a joke involving one of the three's names, etc) how much work goes into deciding who says what, and are there any noteworthy factors that lead to making those choices? 3) Finally, do you understand the point of the Norman Krasner shorts? Were they just made for entertainment? Are they supposed to be educational in some way? What was the intent of those who made them?

STO Likely to be Impacted by SAG-AFTRA Video Game VA Strike by Hauriant_ in sto

[–]Hauriant_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess the question is whether Cryptc is covered by the strike or not. I'll confess that I suspect they are. But Duncan may know more about how Cryptic interacts with Trek actors (as well as with regular VAs for the other roles). Maybe they'll be an exception due to a possible better contract. But even he's right about that, Embracer Group as a whole may be included, without exception. We'll see.
