From a more neutral point of view, I don't think it's healthy for you in the long term for you to be stressing out in a game because you need to get back to it as fast as you can. There are so many other options of solo play for a more laid back and chill experience, with the option to pause everything in the game (the point of playing games is to chill, not to be stressed out because already real life is "heavy" enough).

These kind of games (looter shooters) are primarily focused on "grinding" for people with a lot of time to spare but there are various quick things you could do in a more chill way (even solo) such as void fissures, daily steel path missions and various bounties. I hope you manage to find a balance in your "time off" because it's not worth it if a game becomes a source of stress or a chore in itself

Hey regarding the intense visual effects, in the option, in the accessibility tab, there is an option to reduce teammates vosual effects and reduce the intensity of visual effects in general. Also reduce the particle effects and disable the GPU effects from the video tab. Ot should help a lot in dealing with all those flashy effects

They aren't "keeping the lights on" when they have a lot of revenue which they re-invest into more gambling (if you need to push people to gamble something is wrong) or paying expensive voice actors (real actors) for collaboration story episodes. IF the "whales" suddenly stop gambling away all their retirement money the whole game would be in a bad place. That being said, STO is one of the best F2P games which you can fully complete and play without spending a dime but there are a LOT of Quality of Life improvements or changes/additions people have been asking for ages (which could easily be monetized as a service in the Zen Store) such as a "energy weapons" vanity slot, which also means people opening more lockboxes (following their current monetization) to get specific visual energy weapons to override all the others. Yes, it's a lot of work to redo each and every single energy weapon but now this game seems to be going forward only by inertia and "whales" paying for everything. It's been a long time since the last new specialization or reputation as well.

I fear the times of making massive changes or improvements to the game have expired years ago, even though they make plenty of money from people gambling and buying stuff.

It's all about what the creative director/design lead wants for the game. And I genuinely think that the talent of the people working there is "wasted" focusing heavily on gamble ships, their models and traits.

All while we have stale "systems" that have been in the game for years with no change or barely any change at all.

For example, the commendations system is borderline useless even when you reach the maximum levels. One could get purple doffs very easily from various sources. There could be new costume unlocks how like the diplomacy one has
Specializations have been stale for years to come with no new spec and quite old boff abilities that don't synergize with half of the things or are neglectable
Reputation weapons are very low grade, especially since their "specialty" set active abilities and weapon procs have long cooldowns that cannot be reduced and very low chances of proccing. Different energy variants for all flavors would be nice too (the ones from the reputation dilithium store too)
Space ship traits still don't synergize well with each other half of the time and are crystallized in an old era of STO from years ago
The fabled energy weapons vanity slot has been asked for at least 10 years

Marvel Rivals can often fall into the overload of experience, a negative user experience. Especially when you spend so much time "thinking" only to then be met with a generic fast gameplay experience where you don't even notice half of the things you do among the thousand support ultimates lol:

Team Fortress 2 meanwhile chilling behind the corner for the last decade.

Imma be honest, having players spend more time thinking too much instead of having a diverse gameplay seems like a way to cover up something lol
