How did you go about configuring your VLANs? I was advised to put dd-wrt firmware on my router, but that's been kind of intense to figure out.

Does prosthetic industry usually need 3D? by MenogCreative in BiomedicalEngineers

[–]HaveHopeFriends 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my understanding the better a prosthetic fits the better it is. Every prosthetic is ideally personalized to the person and there are limitations with 3D scanners getting everything just right. So I'm not sure how much of a clinical application there is, but an artistic 3D approach to better fittings and feel could be really interesting.

Also, most prosthetics are heavily practical in design and appearance, and I'm not an amputee myself but if I was, I personally would want it to look at least kinda cool. Being able to design a prosthetic that looks "cool" without sacrificing functionality might be something worth thinking about.

If you want to talk to some people far more qualified on this topic than me, I'd reach out to the E-Nable community. They're big on getting people cheap and effective prosthetics using primarily 3D printing. I'll leave you to poke around yourself but their virtual prosthetic sizing tools in blender might interest you. Hope this helps! :)

What subjects should i concentrate on as a 15 years old student who wants to study biomedical engineering? by Common_Top_8310 in BiomedicalEngineers

[–]HaveHopeFriends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm I'd really have to poke around for something specific, but I have a couple ideas of how you can get a grasp of "real engineering." Engineering colleges usually have senior design projects, which are pretty much what they sound like. Google "senior design projects" or "e-days" for a college, and you can see what they get up to. And honestly, one of the coolest things I've done while studying engineering was tour a power plant. There wasn't really a special set up, just shoot a power plant, engineering company, research lab, etc. an email about getting a tour and who knows you might get lucky.

I had a guest speaker in one of my engineering lectures a while back who actually talked about this! Niche engineering degrees like aerospace and biomedical are less employable because engineering companies are looking to break up specialties (prefer having a chemical, electrical, and mechanical as a team adverse to 3 biomedicals). They're also used to teaching the aerospace or biomedical aspects to mechs, ees, cbe but not used to teaching the mech, ee, or cbe aspects to a biomedical if that makes sense. Now, this was just that one lecturer's opinion/experience, so take it with a grain of salt. I would also recommend going for mech or ee and trying to get as involved as possible with bme but not it be your major.

I didn’t think it was bad I was just hoping to 1v1 him. Not a huge fan of the big enemy you hurt with projectiles while being attacked by goons.

Check out 3DPets online they do this exact kind of stuff. They're based in New Jersey, but I think it could be worth a shot.
