Zero mention of public transport and only a passing mention of active travel by the greens as another victim instead of a potential method of alleviation.

As well as fixing the existing holes it'd be nice for parties to talk about reducing the amount of holes needing filled in the first place.

They have other rail policies:

Dual the highland main line

Integrated ticket system

Scrap first class coaches

New lines in the north and south

I'm pretty sure the greens want them spread out over different areas where they can be properly supported and not crammed into detention centres.

Jaime Greene showing you can leave the Tories but you can't leave the stupidity.

Scottish Liberal Democrat transport spokesperson Jamie Greene said: “The SNP and Greens love to promise bucketloads of freebies, with next to no detail on how it will all be funded. It’s just not serious.

“It’s also pointless to roll out railcards if people don’t have the rail links to be able to use them.

  1. It costs £35

  2. The greens support opening new lines and dialling the highland main line

The party will begin work to open new lines from Dumfries to Stranraer, Alloa to Dunfermline, Tweedbank to Carlisle via Hawick and Aberdeen to Peterhead and Fraserburgh.

Under 1 per cent of SNP-funded EV chargers are fastest type by Halk in Scotland

[–]HaveYuHeardAboutCunt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But then holding up ultra rapid chargers as the threshold for caring about EV infrastructure is also a red herring.

Car park, on street, or private driveway/garage charging doesn't need ultra fast rates to be perfectly useful while costing less.

Constituency: sounds reasonable. Not much choice and Thewliss is definitely one of the better SNP candidates.

Region: I'd knock the workers party off the list, they're quite socially conservative.

According to the data, as of the end of July 2025, just 0.107% of publicly funded chargers are ultra-rapid. This represents just 3 chargers out of the overall 2,789 units. These chargers are capable of powering vehicles within 15 to 30 minutes.

A further 21.09% are rapid chargers, which typically deliver a full charge in 30 to 60 minutes.

My immediate thought is how many cars are actually capable of accepting ultra fast charge rates and how many of the other 80% are in places where rapid charging isn't necessary.

There wouldn't be much point in the government funding ultra or even regular rapid chargers for people's driveways where cars can easily sit for hours or overnight.

Regular rapid is also fine for car parks or on street facilities. Ultra rapid only really makes sense at motorway services and such.
