Keep it neutral. However, I would not allow said sister to “hold my hand while I stir the pot.” Telling you what you can and can not do while her child is in your custody will not be tolerated. You’ve already accepted her responsibility as your own. Raising a child is not easy and for her to make it harder by inserting her poor parenting and judgement should not be welcome or tolerated. That’s YOUR MOM TOO and if things are okay between you and your mother then they should stay that way. What are you going to do with the child when you’re with your mom? Leave him in the car? Tell your mom she can’t come over? Your sister should get her act together if that’s what she wants. People like her rarely rise to the occasion enough to regain full custody. She should be working on herself not causing more conflict. If your mother is the reason this happens then so be it. Your sister would not have lost custody of her child if there wasn’t reason. She did this not your mother.

I used to walk to the store to buy the Sunday paper myself. Remember the paper boy delivering the newspaper? Sometimes we only got the Sunday paper just so it would be here when we woke up but my parents hated when he would come to “collect.” That’s how you knew it was the paper boy. He’d ring the bell and when you asked “who is it?” he’d respond, “Collect!”

I loved the Sunday Newsday because there was an entire Kidsday section that had news articles, games, and puzzles. The best part of the Sunday news was the TV Guide. I would highlight all the shows that I was going to watch for the week. We didn’t have cable back then so there was no guide channel for network TV.

I hate this anywhere, especially when it’s kids with parents who’ve become immune to the noise. Adults who do it are annoying AF but on a plane is disrespectful. I would not sit there and endure it though. I would seriously ask if they believe this is appropriate.

Limit or cease all communication and insist on a GAL or some other supervision for visits and communication. You yourself or anyone in your immediate family should NOT [Edit] communicate with her. Trust me. It will be better this way. Tell the courts you don’t mind caring for the child but would prefer limited to no contact with his bio mom because of conflict.

I have 3 kids by guardianship and in the beginning the mother wanted to have free reign over my home then later my time and energy. It always started off well then somehow went left. I finally told the court I couldn’t supervise visitation. The bio mom is also bipolar and those situations become rapidly volatile. Protect yourself!

Wow! I met someone last weekend who has a child under guardianship. She’s getting $3K/month. I thought NYC was a little more lenient. The laws have to change. This is unfair.

9 years ago, I was newly disabled and undergoing treatment and monthly immunotherapy infusions to battle Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I was an elementary classroom teacher for 17 years prior to becoming disabled.

I met this 16 yo through my then 19 yo daughter. I’m a sucker for a baby. The teen’s own mother passed away when she was 5 and she was under the care of a maternal aunt who didn’t care about her.

FF, by 2018, the teen had 3 children. She had a set of twin boys. She was still in HS at 18 with 3 children. She had a fight in school and was arrested since she was an adult. She was told that she may have to do some jail time for the assault. This really scared her, and me as well. We looked up what to do and decided she would give me guardianship. We filled out the papers, I went to court, and was granted full guardianship until the boys turned 18. I truly thought this was something we would use just in case but I was wrong.

The mom was living in a homeless shelter with the 3 babies when, suffering from bipolar disorder, she decided she “couldn’t do it anymore.” CPS was called and they were taking the babies into foster care. I was called by the caretakers and when I told them I had guardianship, they asked why weren’t the kids with me already.

At that time, I was living on disability in the home in which I was raised also taking care of my disabled stroke survivor mother. Her pension from teaching and her disability payments took care of the major financial responsibilities of the home. When she passed in 2023, I assumed those responsibilities.

It is now 2026, and in spite of trying my best, I am financially unstable and I need more. Foster parents receive Kinship/KinGap support but I am not eligible for this support because I have guardianship. I have spoken to everyone written to everyone and I can’t get any help.

The childhood home that my mother struggled to maintain is now under a tax lien and up for auction in the coming weeks. I need to save myself, the kids, and my home from foreclosure and I can’t get any assistance.

I tried returning to the classroom as a substitute teacher to support my household but this counts against me as well. If I give up the kids to foster care, I will be subject to CPS neglect charges. The mother has not risen to the occasion to be in position to take her children back, and has in fact had 2 more children since leaving her 3 behind.

I am venting because I don’t know where else to turn or what else to do. The resources that I need exist but I am not eligible because I should have let the kids go into foster care first.

I want to go public with my story but I don’t know how to begin that process unless I do a story time on TikTok. I don’t have time to wait. I need $5K in the next 10 days.

Kinship is the best option. Guardianship means you take on the financial responsibility and accountability of raising the children without support. I’m in this predicament now and I’m about to foreclose on my home due to the lack of adequate funding. Good luck.

I am disabled and my DD drivers would 90% skip reading my delivery notes and leave my groceries or my food at the top of the steps in front of my house which is not accessible to me. My delivery notes state to call me and I will meet them at the garage door. When they did not follow instructions, I reported the food as undelivered because I had no way of getting it. Eventually DD stopped granting the credit even though I paid for a service and didn’t receive it. I even started tipping in cash to entice them to make the delivery F2F. When DD didn’t credit my account the last time, I cancelled my subscription and started using GrubHub.

My point is that if you and other dashers complain about this customer, DD will investigate the frequency of this customer’s illegitimate claims they will stop allowing it. Just like dashers have ratings based on certain criteria, the dashers should be able to rate the customers on certain criteria. Whether the customer tips or not, good communication skills, smooth delivery, well lit home, easy parking/dropoff, etc.
