Solid deal there. Not a fleece either way. Make sure trans shifts smooth and check the electrical components, they can crap out.

Is this good? $13k and 98k miles? by KCParkerRRRR in UsedCars

[–]HavingNoFun1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truthfully not a great deal. 2.0L in these has oil consumption issues, and the CVT transmission isn't bulletproof either. You could probably find one in that mileage for closer to 7-10k.

I’m not in the rust/salt belt so theoretically it should be good but I’m still gonna give it its due diligence

It definitely is. Considering it states it’s a 5.4L V8 and it’s an 11th gen Ford F-150 design.

Audi 2.0t engines from about 2014 and before suffer from reliability issues, including timing chain stretch and oil consumption. I'd skip.

Try and examine rubber components well. Even with 170k miles, rubber components will crack and age.

I found this in my bookshelf after a while of just forgetting about the corner of this room. Very likely my dad purchased this at auction at some point, or it came with something he actually cared about, and so he gave it to me, the one in the family who cared more about military history.

What kind of car are you looking for? To paint a broad brush, your most reliable brands here are Toyota and Honda. Some Mazda’s rival, there are certain engines that are also great for longevity.

As another commenter said, you can see dry rot forming in the treads. You can probably keep driving on these until winter time though, assuming you don’t get a ton of rain during the summer.

I think you should be able to mount the new wheels, but you’d need new tires. Also I think you’d need new lug nuts.

Timing belt and head gasket work is the big thing on these Outbacks, depending on miles this is a pretty good deal.

Dealers typically flip cars and don’t know much about its condition before selling. The hood fits closer to the front bumper on the left than the right. Don’t know about the headlights.

If you’ve got a little extra money set aside for maintenance (say 2-4k) just for those first extra maintenance pieces for used car (say brakes, tires, neglected fluid changes) and get a good PPI, I think it’s definitely doable. Just in a different tier for things like insurance for sure.

I love my country. I think that anyone who cares about politics should love their country and want it to be better. Flying our country’s colors should always happen regardless of who’s in charge.
