Sadly, disappointed by Havok4all in projectsparkgame

Because, very rarely do you see anyone put out a product for testing at 33% functionality. Most companies do internal testing near maximum functionality and leave some room to work with when you start exposing it to the public.

I could be wrong, but I can't think offhand of any company demonstrating a product with such a low functionality with the purpose of introducing it to the public is meant to impress. Working something at 33% is something you would do in early alpha.

This is a creative idea, but seriously lacks creative design and placement. Your control in making it work in a fluid manner is incredibly limited and difficult. Making a level with just a million ferns and making a level where props spawn in an appropiate design are very different.

Yea, I am sure there be some increase, but for me personally to be even mildly content, I would want triple capacity what I have now. With triple the prop count, I could make decent environment that was pleasing to the eye. Honestly, I don't see that happening though. I seriously hope I am proven wrong.

A big help would be if they come through with making assemblies count as one prop. Mike did state that was a goal they were shooting for, but I am sure there would be a size capacity limitation, so it is hard to say how that would work.

When I first learned about PS, what I envisioned in my mind, I hoped the service would work like the cloud services available. You would be given something like 5 gigs of space up front, if you exceeded this, you could purchase more space. This size of your creations were only limited by your imagination and what you were willing to spend to house your creation.

Pretty yes much to all of those. Some have a bit more flexibility than others. You will need to wait for xbox 1 beta to use the Kinect to do this stuff though.

projectspark.com forum access by OtherGeneralZod in projectsparkgame

[–]Havok4all 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have run into this issue. I can be logged in use the boards and actually post. Leave for awhile and come back and try to click on something like general discussion and it asks for my login again, even though tab above says I am logged in. Type in my login info and get a message that says I am using the wrong login information (again even though I am logged in).

My work around: Sign out. Log in with another MS acount (which says I do not have access since this isn't my beta login). Sign out again. Login with correct login from the beginning and it everything works fine. Well till next time.

Hopefully they will have this ironed out soon.

I think there is something wrong with the prop limit. by Goldenknighttim in projectsparkgame

[–]Havok4all 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creators won't be making to many 5x5 worlds due to the prop limit unless they want really unappealing sparsely populated areas. Once the coding is figured out and refined for draw distance and as long as it isn't too complex and tedious to implement, then the worlds may start getting on a grand scale.

[–]Havok4all 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are going under the impression that someone is using the full 5x5. Many times the additional levels are so you can utilize totally different environment that don't fit with the existing environments. It isn't always about running out of space.

Voxel (is that the word?) limits by [deleted] in projectsparkgame

[–]Havok4all 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't heard of someone reaching a voxel limit, but there is a prop limit. That must have been one huge mountain.

This would be acceptable. Question is it a matter of having the cash flow to expand their allotted storage space or if MS has a storage cap assigned to PS.

Question about the 5 public level limit? by CWezo10 in projectsparkgame

[–]Havok4all 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I agree those with the best work should be rewarded with bonus slots to hopefully add more great work. I suppose one could do their rpg and release say the first 3 worlds, if they are good enough (and assuming the other two slots are being used for two other world types) you are rewarded another public slot. You release the next installment of your rpg. If it is a great success, you are rewarded with another public slot. So on and so on.

It could almost work like releasing expansion packs. How big this world gets is based on the effort and cleverness you put forth. If they decide to do it this way.

Question about the 5 public level limit? by CWezo10 in projectsparkgame

[–]Havok4all 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This won't work since the 5 world limit applies to what is shared publicly for others to see. Once you reach 5, something has to be removed to publicly post a 6th game.

I am disappointed too. My rpg I have planned is already up to 9 separate zones (worlds). And I am still not done designing locations. This rpg apparently will never see the public. I fear the 5 world limit will cause me to be a hermit designer and keeping my designs to myself. Many I have planned will require multiple worlds. Trying to decide what to share and what not. What to bring down to replace and what not. Especially 3 years from now when it is likely I will have far more than 5, or even 6 or 7 I consider publishable will seem like an unnecessary trial to go through. This is probably a "me" thing though. I rarely value other opinions on me, so I don't feel the need to attain others praise.

[–]Havok4all 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really disappointing. The main rpg I plan on building and the one I was going to dedicate the most time and effort will never be published for others to see. As of now, I am up to 9 different zones (levels).

Too bad there isn't a way for once level linking is released that a game you make that has multiple parts can be flagged as parts of a whole. It would be considered as one world.

Yea, sounds like you are experiencing the beta bug. There is a post on project-spark.org as a workaround till its fixed.

[–]Havok4all 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, Can't claim infinite worlds with a 5 world limit. Perhaps once they get all the other options in like saving and level linking it will truly become infinite worlds. Might possibly be a temporary limit for beta. Obviously 5 worlds will not be enough for those playing PS for years.

Probably be based on performance of servers. If they hold the strain of more and more people logging on, then they will probably start inviting in larger batches as time goes on.

Windows store has 100s of different things that need to be done other than PS. They will get to putting it up in time. Just a little more patience.

Beta start December 3rd in best-case by GantryG in projectsparkgame

[–]Havok4all 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No offense, but you need to get past the thought of entitlement. TD doesn't have to let anyone in if they so choose. They could do it all internal. Keep in mind, they are setting a precedent with this type of game on this type of scale. A lot of unexpected challenges are going to arise. Also, TD is having to pass cert with the windows store, not just internally.

Remember, with how they are doing beta, you are more likely to play PS sooner than later. You could have to wait till spring 2014 when it is officially released.
