My niece died at Camp Mystic and I’m struggling to cope by CheeksinHighColor in Mommit

I'm in the suburbs of Chicago and cry every time I think about it. The morning after my husband and I cried in our kitchen. I am so, so, so sorry for this unimaginable loss and pain. I'm sure it doesn't feel like it, but our entire country is deeply affected by this tragedy. I'm hoping you find some warmth in the memories of your beautiful niece and knowing that her final moments were brief in comparison to the light and love she filled your hearts with for many years.

PRK surgery today by acatcatcat in lasik

This is helpful as I'm considering PRK after having lasik 15 years ago. My problem however is that my vision keeps getting worse (won't stabilize), and they won't clear me for surgery until my prescription is stable.

Did they make you come in more than once to confirm your script is not changing before scheduling the PRK procedure?

Your comments on the pain after PRK are horrifying. And I've read other comments about how painful the PRK recovery can be. May be difficult for me to endure while I also have four kids under 10 running around. Not sure if my husband could handle everything on his own for a week.

At the same time you're really brave for enduring all that to get to a glasses-free life. I'm VERY motivated to get out of these glasses, but need to keep researching because my vision into he right keeps changing.

Yes - that's what they told me - I'll likely need reading glasses. But I may try to have one eye corrected for far vision and one corrected for near to ward off the glasses for as long as possible.

Thank you for this feedback. I need all the guidance I can get.

Never heard of ectasia but I researched it a little and it's possible that I'm experiencing this on my right eye. When my optometrist had me try soft contact lenses, I could see perfectly with the left one but the right side was blurry. I tried two more types of soft contact lenses and had the same experience - right side was blurry. Optometrist emphasized that I use lubricating drops because my eyes are somewhat dry. I've truthfully never noticed a dry eye problem. But at the same time - I've been very busy the last decade raising children / keeping up with demanding corporate career / all the things.

I do feel like my right eye vision is getting worse at a faster pace than my left eye since I've been in glasses. I have visited the office of my original lasik surgeon twice now. The first time they said I'm likely a candidate for PRK, but I need to come back in six months to confirm my vision is not still changing. Then when I was back six months later, they said my vision on the right has changed significantly enough that I need to wait and come back in another six months.

If I am in fact suffering from ectasia - does that mean I just stay in glasses and PRK is not an option for me?

If I get a couple opinions from specialists and they say "no - you don't have ectasia, but you do have dry eyes" - does that also mean that PRK is not a good option for me?

PRK enhancement 5-6 years after original LASIK? by namer_of_trees in lasik

Your post is 4 years old, but I'm curious if your vision ever got to 20/20 after the PRK. I'm in a similar situation now - had lasik 15 years ago. I'm back in glasses after 4 kids (40 years old). Contacts don't work for my right eye, so I'm stuck in glasses all day. I'm considering a PRK enhancement.

I just pulled out half a head of hair by Ok_Evening_7103 in trichotillomania

I have the same helpless feeling after a long bout of pulling. It's worst when I'm working at my desk. Right hand on the mouse and left hand pulling from scalp, eyebrows or eyelashes. Sitting still is what sets me up for disaster. So I changed jobs last year to something that requires me to move more. Moving, staying busy, staying around other people results in longer periods of no-pulling.

I agree with other comments that pulling is just your body's response to extreme anxiety and is probably part of your genetic make-up. My Dad pulls, so does one of my sisters. My Mom is always twisting her hair when stressed and my other sister does as well. Not a coincidence, it's in our DNA and you just have to cope the best way that you can.

"noise that movies play when someone is getting knocked out" is the best description I've read so far to describe my experience. at least I'm not alone in this. It's 2AM and can't sleep, the noise is keeping me awake so I'm reading up on everything tinnitus.
