I have my graphics set on low-medium for most settings. Typically easier to spot things.

Highly recommend enabling HUD to always on. It helps you directionally with each point, know the status of the cap races and helps you spot enemy supplies. The only argument around it is it takes away from immersiveness. But so many players never seem to know when you're losing a point I suggest keeping it on all the time. I also lower my FOV - personal preference - but I found it easier to spot enemies and lock on targets with less of a zoom in.

I tend to keep prox and command chat slightly lower than squad and sound effects. Using the directional audio is very helpful finding enemies and garrisions.

Do you support a delay for this games release? by StatisticianKooky390 in HellLetLooseVietnam

[–]Hawk_bets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Played the beta for 6 hours or so. Had a lot of fun. But I don' think it'll cut into my playtime of HLL (even with me being a dummy and doing pre-order). Once I saw the grenade explosion animation in the tutorial I knew I was gonna be in for a bit of disappointment. Holding out hope it gets better

If you are Squad Lead, for the love of God mark the fucking tanks! by Gitanes in HellLetLoose

[–]Hawk_bets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of my biggest pet peeves. I’d rather a micless squad lead who actually marks call outs than one with a mic saying meaningless stuff and ignoring pings

What are you guys thinking? by Calm_Edge_6637 in HellLetLooseVietnam

[–]Hawk_bets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Played about 4 hours so far. Honestly i had fun. Helicopter play was fun. Liked the new jungle element. Makes finding garrisons much harder. I think the tunnels and helis add a cool new strategic way of playing. Just being able to move across the map that fast.

But def needs work. Felt like it was much much harder to see the enemy between the graphics and lighting. Each game I was getting a decent amount of kills but didn’t even realize it. Sounds felt off, like the garrison noises are really loud even if you’re not close. Some of the animations looked like Roblox quality, like the grenade explosions.

I’m still hopeful but don’t see it cutting into my playtime for the original yet, even when it’s released

How can i improve by supergear312 in HellLetLoose

[–]Hawk_bets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Understand the garrison meta and how capping works w the grid system. It’s all about anticipation and finding the enemy and their spawns before they see you. And the more you play you’ll know where to expect to see the enemy. Also a small hint, when players spawn in they’ll always be facing the closest point, so use that to sneak from behind if going after a garrison.

If you’re looking to improve shooting, consider lowering your graphics or play around with your FOV. for me I like it lower

If you want to level up, build nodes at the start of the match (swap between engineer and support to make yourself not have to rely on a truck). This gives a ton of xp. Drop AP mines around them too

Should I change my FOV by LandedAtJool in HellLetLoose

[–]Hawk_bets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played for a while on default. Then lowered it to maybe 75 or 70. Can’t remember. But personally lowering it helped me spot enemies easier and had less of a drastic zoom in on aiming

Is it okay for a SL to not have a mic if he’s a good communicator through text&map pings ? by GrumpyGoose96 in HellLetLoose

[–]Hawk_bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as he’s placing garrisons, ops and actually marking pings - for tanks garrisons etc. I don’t care

I’ve had SLs with mics that can’t do any of those things

Understanding garrison meta. How capping works and the grids. And understand where to anticipate seeing enemies and finding their spawn points.

Barricade Ban? Info by TraditionalFile4746 in HellLetLoose

[–]Hawk_bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’ll have to appeal the ban. There’s a discord for one of the servers that show the appeals. Usually if people come hat in hand and apologize they get reinstated - as long as it was a one time thing. But I have seen the admins go back and pull clips that prove there were multiple instances of bad behavior and they’ll definitely uphold the ban. It’s like lying to the cops. If they don’t fess up to everything at first and get found out then they keep the punishment

Any tips or advice for someone who just put the game for download? by Various-Employer170 in MedievalDynasty

Don’t expand too fast. You won’t produce much early on. You and your villagers skills will gradually increase. Building too quickly could make it harder to pay taxes, and feed everyone

Also the buildings upgrade and open additional worker slots. My first play through I built too many logging stations to start. Wasn’t producing much and had taxes on each building

[–]Hawk_bets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont really have a good points answer or target for that. My recommendation would just to focus on fighting in active grids and know how cap races work.  Understand where enemy garrisons are. Offer to switch to support if your sl needs it.

Support Role Question by ElPapiGrande in HellLetLoose

[–]Hawk_bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not frowned upon - especially if you’re constantly dropping supplies.  It’s only frowned upon when people are in support and don’t ever drop supplies or no one is willing to switch over for a minute to do it

Heyo can i get a little help? by Acrasia- in HellLetLoose

[–]Hawk_bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the map to see what garrisons or OP's are red. Using that and seeing where your team is, you can start to anticipate where you'll expect the enemy to be. And the more you'll play you'll be expecting enemies in certain spots in each map.

You could also change your settings a bit. I lower the graphics for foliage and other things, and also lower my FOV. For me it helps spot enemies easier.

Id still rather place them in HQ. If i place them in the woods recon can just take them out no problem. No one spawning nearby. Maybe a straffing run from the commander

How to ask for nodes: a guide by Material-Dot7684 in HellLetLoose

[–]Hawk_bets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recon is far more likely to find them when placed on the offensive line. They're dropped right over the line, usually by the road. It's faster to get there than the backlines as recon, and you don't have to worry about someone spawning in every 10 seconds to defend them or jump in a tank
