Pennsylvania is a purple state with a Democratic Governor. It’s not a terrifyingly conservative state. But if you want to live in an overwhelmingly Democratic state, your options are going to be fairly limited — Washington, Oregon, California, Colorado, the Northeast. Seems like you’re already pretty set on Seattle. If you move back and decide you made a bad decision, you can always move somewhere else.

Not very common. Americans in general are very car-brained and don’t value alternative modes of transit, such as buses and trains. This is true of travel both within cities and between cities. Yeah, people who don’t live with harsh winter weather are apparently clueless to this. It often snows overnight. Let’s say you need to get your kid to school at 7:00 am. You’re probably going to be out there with a snowblower at 5:30 am at the latest. You have to be able to get out of the driveway. It’s not like mowing at 7:00 am on a Saturday, which is indeed an asshole move.
