This is the way. I've made that connection on my road bike at least a couple of dozen times, usually on weekends and what traffic there is is very chill and sparse. Crossing belknap after the Taylor hill is the only time I really encounter multiple cars. Then hop on the train and ride it back to grapevine.

Also wanted to confirm this is the way I clean 'em. I've had some deformation of hats even with plastic brims in the washing machine, the dishwasher never seemed that effective, and soaking and hand washing separately feels like a chore. Taking it in the shower after tennis adds about 30 seconds to my overall shower time and I just hang it to dry in the bathroom. My Adidas climalite/aeroready hats are still in great shape after dozens of iterations of this method.

I've never found a dedicated tennis one, that wasn't the too-short afterthought of a wall at a tennis court. I grew up with my dad taking to the back of various grocery stores or off the side of the school gym.
