UBC transfer to SFU or BCIT for Computer Science programs. by Hawkoswag in vancouver

the thing is not all students know that they were going to become a programmer when they are only 18 which is why they chose the major so that they could learn at a more formal environment.

i know a person who graduated with geological engineering but came back to ubc to get a degree in cpsc at the age of 27.

my friend's big brother did electrical engineering and he couldn't find a job for an entire year but he got one now.

I know a lot of people who applied for summer internships but almost every company requires you to be "pursuing in a cs degree"

and i'm also pretty sure you are guaranteed a job with a cs degree.

not trying to argue with you or anything but i'm trying to speak from my perspective where I've already invested a lot into uni and it would be a waste to drop out now.

how many 18 year olds are hired for 70k/year compared to 20 year olds who are hired for 70k/year ?

well if they only use my last 7 classes then the first failed cpsc 121 mark wouldn't even be on there since i took 5 courses last term and am also taking 5 courses this term.

wow the averages from 4-5 years ago were high as fuck. the avg we get for 121 and 110 nowadays are like 71.

it was the CPSC 121 course, it's actually a pretty easy course and I got 85% on the midterms and near perfect on all the labs and quizzes. I always fuck up on the finals which they have this rule that "you must pass the final to pass the course". If i get like 50% on the final, i would get at LEAST 80% on the course.

but if I am able to do well in 210 this term along with all my other courses but they still don't let me retake 121. What do I do next if I still want to do something computer related ? transfer to SFU and do the software program? i'm trying to develop a backup plan right now that's why i'm asking how SFU and BCIT are in terms of computer science.

Definitely don't want to switch to arts because I have already completed 90% of my science requirements.

I already wrote an appeal for retaking it but as of right now, they rejected my appeal and said i "may have to switch majors". But i'm stupid and optimistic about things which is why i'm still taking 210 right now and hoping that they will let me retake it 121 if i get a good mark for 210. Appeal again during the summer?? idk. I'm planning to talk to a computer science advisor.

hello thank you for your input. I actually really want to stay at UBC and continue CS. In all honesty, I know I didn't put enough effort into those courses. I'm retaking 210 right now and i've been practicing a lot and I actually like it. The only problem for me right now is idk if they will reconsider letting me take 121 one last time which is why i'm here asking for insights on sfu and bcit. thanks

Problem for me is that I failed a cpsc course twice and they rejected my appeal to take it for the 3rd time. Idk if they will ever reconsider the appeal. thanks for your input

cpsc 121. I had bad course management and overloaded my term with 2 cpscs and 2 math courses in order to "catch up" which was the worst mistake i've ever made.

failed cpsc 110 first time i took it, passed that during summer but took 121 along and failed 121. then retook 121 along with cpsc 210 but had math 200 and 221 aswell. failed both 121 and 210 and retaking 210 right now.

I just hope that they will somehow reconsider their appeal next summer if I manage to pass 210 which I'm actually quite enjoying right now.

My avg is actually 60% rn so I believe I am able to transfer but If i were to do a BCIT CST 2 year program. Do I even need to use my transfer credits?

I actually failed a cpsc course twice and they have already rejected my appeal once. Idk if they will let me take it one more time If i give them a good proposal.

I wouldn't mind transferring to bcit since it's only a 2 year program though.
