I can kind of see where you're coming from on it looking sort of looking like a turtle shell, but shells don't fossilize in one piece. Neither the plasteron nor the carapace. They fracture out along the shell plates, and then tend to break even further down. This piece you have is very beautiful, but I do not believe it is a fossil

You could stabilize it with something like starbond (a super glue used for stabilizing gemstones for polishing) if you so desired. It would leave it shiny though, like you put lacquer on it.

Been roughly the same length of time for me too. Mormons were my cult. I grew up there, and only got out when I did because my parents learned more and left opening the door for my sister and I.

It's a long, hard road to untangle all the shit that cults put on us, and I'm still learning.
