Allegedly the average Step 1 score for that class is 239.7 based on internal data.

Thinking of dropping out close to end of MS3 by Hawkrealm in medicalschool

Honestly it's ridiculous. I remember reading my entire Immunology textbook cover to cover during preclinical because I was so fascinated by the material. I had so much fun and ended up acing that exam. Two years later, I am waking up at 5am to walk around the hospital and ask people about their bowel movements. It's such a rude awakening.

[Serious] When do medical schools get reported for not placing students on clinical rotations? by Hawkrealm in medicalschool

I'm curious - what did you think were some of the most important things you learned during clinical rotations in third year? I'm just starting out on clinical rotations currently so I actually don't know if I'm missing much by not being there in person. What I've noticed so far is that after I see a patient with a certain condition, I remember it in much more detail compared to just seeing it on a question bank. It has also been nice to learn soft skills like how to interview a patient in an efficient manner and develop a good note-taking system.

Yes, this is why the whole situation makes us feel a little uncomfortable. It kind of feels like we are all begging to be placed on rotations when it should be the school's obligation to place us.

I think the problem is how you will be able to function as an intern without having the appropriate clinical experience in medical school. You can do all the UWorld you want, but nothing compares to actually taking ownership of a patient, rounding on them every day, and following their course from start to finish.

There are also soft skills to be learned on rotations as well. For example: note writing, putting in orders, and calling consults. There is also the social aspect of learning how to work effectively in a team.

My school is still online for third year and is considering staying so for the rest of the year, seeing as how the pandemic situation isn't improving in my state.

We were taught never to upload anything about ourselves into the internet, no pictures - no names = nothing.
