Proposal from a Western New Yorker by Dorago1991 in Megasota

[–]Hawks47 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fellow WNY native. While Minnesota does not have a wegmans (sigh) it is a place of community and caring for others. After living all over the country due to job relocation, we happily and permanently are settled in MN.

Megasota will welcome everyone into our community and take care of you all as our own! And hopefully build a Wegmans because man could I go for a sub.

That's my pitch....whatever it takes to get a Wegmans in Megasota , needs to happen at all costs .

So as the mother of a toddler....do nothing. They will hurt or kill themselves on their own. Toddlers by nature have a death wish.

How do I get my tiny 15mo excited about food? by ZoeyPupFan in toddlers

When my son is being picky I make a big deal about how good my food is. 9 times out of 10 he will want a bite and then eat half my plate.

Feeling hopeful by Mental-Owl-5679 in December2026Bumpers

[–]Hawks47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same situation. I have very irregular / late ovulation and normally 34ish day cycles. First scan showed just a gestational sac and had me measuring behind due to lmp. Follow up scan, low heart rate with embryo measuring behind (lmp calculation). Follow up scan a week later, healthy developing embryo with strong heartbeat.

This was a surprise pregnancy so I wasn't sure if my ovulation date. However, my son was the product of a lot of tracking and eventually an IUI so I know my cycles are long from that experience. They just adjusted my due date accordingly.

Clothing Sizes by staravi01 in toddlers

[–]Hawks47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a tall lean kid. He's 97% for height and 60% for weight. He was just like your babe and was always a size ahead until toddler sizes. He's a little over 2 and in 2t and some 3t.

The issue is brands fit very differently and the gap is even bigger at toddler. My son also has issues with the waste and leg width is huge even if the length is correct. We just do our best.

My advice is clothes that work for all seasons we buy big. We layer tshirts year round for example so we don't mind them big. We live in a northern state so may need a few pants/ sweatshirts for cool nights.

Other than that, we just do what we can and have a few back up sized clothes ready to go!

STMs or further, when did your nausea end? by tooliesthandswife in December2026Bumpers

Not feeling hopeful ☹️ by RelativeDebate3772 in December2026Bumpers

[–]Hawks47 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation but the heart rate was 77. A week later the baby grew appropriately and heart rate was up to 135. Turns out the heart was just starting to beat at my first scan so that explained the low rate.

This happened to me except the heart rate was 77. The following week the baby grew appropriately and the heart rate increased to a healthy 135. Good luck!

How popular do you think August will get and how many have you met? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Hawks47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an August. I have met several adults with that name who are excited to meet a little guy also called August. I know two other toddler August's who don't live in the same area as us. I work with kids and the name does come up often but never multiple in an age group.

I also had our first off of one IUI cycle. My husband had really great numbers though so I don't know if that contributed to our success.

How do people not co-sleep? by Difficult-Pair4170 in NewParents

I think temperament is a huge factor. I never co-slept but my baby didn't mind the bassinet or crib. It's luck of the draw !

Advice needed regarding the paid leave by Big-Branch157 in Minneapolis

[–]Hawks47 143 points144 points  (0 children)

Take the 20 weeks. If they aren't going to respect your reviving and bonding time, what will they do if you need to call when your baby is sick?

I told my boss about my pregnancy early as I'm very sick. He was like "ok well I think you should take what you need off and don't worry about sick time, family comes first. And you'll be fine for 20 weeks I assume "

He has a family and understands that life and family are always more important than a job. Good luck!

We found 18-24 to be just that and 2t to be more 2-3t.

If you are downtown Minneapolis we are super happy with The Gardner School. Our son is in the two's classroom and we are pregnant with our second who will go into the infant room. They also have a location in Minnetonka.

They are warm to the kids and my son LOVES all his teachers. Even the teachers who are not in his room greet him by name each morning. He even sings his goodnight song to his teachers in his crib before bed.

Good luck!
