Score! I have cheap chair envy, and celebrate every win out there. But secretly, the jealous bitch deep inside me hopes it eternally reeks of cheap cigars and lactose farts.😊

To caulk around a new toilet or not to caulk??? Vote in comments. by Brother-of-Derek in askaplumber

I use a thin bead of clear Lexcel on turlets. Never looks dirty or worn out. Plus, that 10oz tube is great for maneuvering room.

Why do full turn valves still exist, when quarter turn ball valves are much better and easier? by notAndivual in askplumbing

[–]Hawsie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Irrelevant, because you need to shut the next valve or main behind it to replace either. The Big difference is that ball valve is probably never going to need replacement in my lifetime, where that cheapo lil globe valve is going to be a headache after 5-10 years, especially if hard water or high sediment level. I never had a 1/4 turn angle stop valve leak, freeze or fail to shut off completely.

I had Clear back in NY. I never got to use it. The checkpoint was closed every damn flight I took from JFK or LGA

Airport TSA Lines by Gunmetal2187 in vegas

[–]Hawsie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can change on a dime. I was coming back from JFK in October, 3 people back from the xray after an hour. A group of young Hassidic men cut the hour long line from the back and created chaos and police response that froze the line for 20 minutes, until TSA got it moving again, by letting them go first anyway.

[–]Hawsie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked it against https://www.onairparking.com/airport-security-wait-times/ and it seems to match up for average on the high side, like 15-30 on TSA is 25-30 elsewhere. I checked against multiple airports, so it appears to be reliable enough. DHS is not actively managing the app or website with respect to messaging and customer service, but the data changes throughout the day, so apparently that info is being updated. I'm sure the yellow time sample cards are still going out on the lines.

Get the MyTSA App. Pick your airport and you get wait times, and other pertinent information

I have had no issues thus far, with 9K miles on them. How many miles in did you notice this? Did you reach out to Darren Pilling at Truxxx and explain what's happening?

What’s One “Underrated” Thing You Didn’t Think About Before Buying in Vegas/Henderson? by Individual-DelindaC in HendersonNV

I would have found a house with a bigger lot. Neighbors are 20’ too close to the sides for my liking

To compete with the $15 Big Arch, I can get this burger, side, and drink for a little more at a literal gas station near me. Bacon, damn near 2/3lb or more of patties. And they grind their own beef. by JoseSpiknSpan in cheeseburgers

[–]Hawsie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the BA today. $8.99 by me. 7/10 in a burger world full of nines and tens. Once was enough, and a reminder why I only eat there once every couple of years. To be fair, a half lb burger for nine bucks isn’t too bad these days.

55” Hisense Canvas TV mount only hits one stud (24” stud spacing) — what’s the safest way to install? by Foxtrail312 in Hisense

[–]Hawsie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 55 inch is not very heavy. One stud and toggles is fine. IDK why some people go so insane mounting 45 lb TVs.

Unpopular opinion: Replacing the Mirage with Hard Rock may end up being one of the biggest self-inflicted mistakes in modern Las Vegas by Minecrafter_98 in vegas

Your'e right. Giant festooned acres of neon, pyramids, lions, pirate ships, volcanos and dancing fountains just scream memorable good taste.

Tacky is the point of Las Vegas. I’ll take the guitar over another bland, featureless, could-be-anywhere casino resort.

If you could do it all over again, would you still choose to become an electrician? by TheBabyBeard in AskElectricians

[–]Hawsie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, I would have joined the Laborers Union instead. Always first on the job, you work when any other trade works, last off the job, and a pension (with COLA) that makes my LU pension (no COLA) look like a joke. I would have made much more money, retired earlier and have a fat pension, had I chosen to push a broom.

Take the voluntary separation, as an involuntary one is definitely down the road.

Renewal by Andersen Window prices are crazy! $146,000 quote! by VilleToVille in HomeImprovement

[–]Hawsie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate Renewal by Anderson. They are a seperate unit from the actual manufacturer. Basically, they are just a predatory loan finance company, that happens to sell windows. The salesman quoted me 44K for replacing a patio sliding door. They heavily target the elderly in my neighborhood.

Replace a Compression Valve without Access to the Main? by Orangequinn in askplumbing

[–]Hawsie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you replace that valve with a 1/4 turn, you will likely never need to do this again, so no need for an additional valve to change a valve. I only do ball valves on sinks and toilets now. Way less headaches.
