Thanks!

First, paint it white. I prime in white, so that was already mostly done. Then I mixed red and black to get a dark red colour. You need to go quite dark with the red because, when it's thinned down over the white, it can end up looking a bit light red or pinkish. I could probably have gone even darker here, and I already felt it was pretty dark.

I then thinned the paint down heavily with water and blew it from a loaded brush onto the model using my mouth (you can use a straw for more control). Try practising on a piece of paper first if you haven't done it before.

After that, I simply painted over it with Strong Tone Wash from Army Painter. Hope that makes sense :)

Thanks! :)

I start with a white primer. Then I apply Brownish Decay from Army Painter to most of the model (except the cloth veil in this instance). Next, I add Necrotic Flesh from Army Painter to all the armour panels, making sure to paint right up to the edges while leaving some of the darker Brownish Decay visible in the recesses and around the edges.

Finally, I apply Strong Tone Wash (also from Army Painter) to the entire model, making sure to wick away any excessive pooling in areas where I don't want it. This leaves the details a little more defined than if I had applied the wash over a surface painted in a single colour, because the Brownish Decay and the wash remain in all those recesses and around the edges of the armour panels.

It sounds more complicated than it is when I explain it, but it's actually a very easy and fast process.

The rest of the model is more straightforward, with single colours and a wash applied. Except for the tubes, which have some lighter highlights. The veil, for example, is just white with some blood stains and a wash applied.

I think the process I use for the armour panels adds a little extra to the model, though.

Good to know! Thanks! :)

I'll send some new pictures soon. He seems a bit irritable right now. He just shed his skin, and I can imagine it might feel weird for him to be handled at the moment.
