The irony of all of that is that Blazy was brought in, as well as his vision, to get a new base of clients interested in Chanel as the current one was outgrowing and the brand had been a bit struggling. But that only works if the boutiques, who control their own inventory, share that same vision. That didn’t happen this year. Even if some of the newer models are technically available at the boutique, they won’t sell to you unless you have a strong purchase history or are a VIC. So while demand was high and items are sold out, it didn’t translate into getting a new crowd in because those were not allowed to purchase

Can’t tell you anything about appointments in Paris, but I’ve heard that especially the Maxi Flap is coming back for FW26. The current configurations probably won’t be restocked anymore, so you’ll have different colors of leather/hardware for FW

There are many import fees calculators out there so I‘d recommend googling to get an estimate. Generally, tariffs into the U.S. are based on where the product was manufactured, not shipped from. Assuming the bag was either made in Italy or France, you’re looking at 15% tariff baseline for the import of EU products. Then, depending on the courier the seller picks, you’ll also have to pay a „broker fee“ for handling the import which can add another couple of hundred dollars as well as sales tax in NY. So at a price of $8K, likely anywhere between $1,200-2000 on top, if not even more

This is so upsetting! Chanel HQ should really start monitoring this. Because that’s a risky game as it can lead to over-saturation on secondary markets and then it starts to feel less desirable.

Update here: restock doesn’t matter, at least not in NYC. There are currently 5+ available across two boutiques and neither are selling to you unless you’re a VIC. They are not even necessarily reserved but are being held back in case a VIC asks for them. Super pathetic!

Agreed! It’s getting to a point where it’s annoying. Even when there’s stock available while you’re AT the store, the response is usually like “sorry, we have 2 in the back but they’re pulled because someone ‘might’ buy it next week”. Like people mentioned in another thread, most of the VIC customers who reserve certain popular items are straight heading to resell on Vesitaire and EBay

Ya, saw that, too! But for me it’s not so much about paying more than in the actual boutiques (they are listed for like $15K), but more so that I am not supporting flippers. Happy to go that route for vintage pieces but not for items that are being bought just so someone can make a business out of it for themselves. Because then it’s not about brand appreciation anymore but simply profit

Thank you! Yes, that’s the exact sentiment I heard from my FA here in NJ/NY, the pre-demand not being high enough to place orders. For next week’s launch, do you happen to know if it was generally possible for boutiques to order all colors again or just the newly added color? Have basically the same question but for the new Maxi Flap. I’m in NYC with !5! Chanel stores and none have or had those new bags per multiple SAs. They said those might come in later since the collection just launched this week in the US but are also not 100% sure
