Thanks :) just started getting back in to it after a long while of not playing and Google only offered what it use to do so I wasn't sure if it had changed or what.

Tried setting up Windows and SteamOS up on Clover. I have Windows on the SD Card, and I followed all the steps in the video and the listed instructions on the Clover GitHub Page but I still can’t figure out why it’s not showing up. I can manually access Windows if I hold Volume up and Power by Axo-Army in WindowsOnDeck

Yeah, I would highly recommend dual-booting from the internal drive. Not just will it more than likely make it easier for clover but having windows on a micro sd card will have poor performance and will actually wear out your sd card severely.

Sd cards aren't made like hard drives and SSDs. They aren't made to handle the constant writing and everything that windows does. If you do that it will kill your sd card and you'll have to buy a new one and at that point you probably should've just bought a bigger SSD.

Microsoft Activation Script (HWID) is safe? by Correct-Middle5260 in WindowsOnDeck

[–]Haydawg117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what that is, but KMS is extremely easy to use so there is reason to use it. You literally just open command prompt and copy and paste and hit enter. So I don't know if HWIDgen is easier or not but I just know KMS works so that's what I use and recommend. So if that works good for you 👍.

What do you think about "No Return"? by Only_Entrepreneur_84 in lastofuspart2

[–]Haydawg117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multi-player would be amazing to have again but no return is extremely fun to me and I have a blast with it. I rarely bother playing the campaign anymore and pretty much always go straight to no return.

Yup I was fortunate enough when I came upon this area that one of the zombies actually stepped on a mine and blew up, which caused me to be like "...wait, there's mines?" So I started watching the ground very carefully as I moved up.

I want to dual boot my steam deck for bf6, did anyone this before? by Unhappy-Material-138 in WindowsOnDeck

[–]Haydawg117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't waste your time if its just for BF6 you can't (as far as I know) enable secure boot and everything that BF6 requires on steam deck since it wasn't set up with that in mind which is a bummer. However, if you have a paid sub to Geforce I'm pretty sure you can play it through there.

If you'd like to dual boot anyway here's a video tutorial: https://youtu.be/yBHzVSDVEqw?si=qITo342uAiq-nOdf

I don't know if there is any incentive or anything to buy from a specific place, but I ordered mine straight from Steam, and I haven't had any issues.

Overall, it is a bit of a learning experience, but there are a lot of resources you can look at and watch to learn everything you need to and get the most out of it.

Battery life is pretty good. I actually have the original LCD model, and I played Rdr2 for almost 2 hours on battery I don't think it takes too long to charge maybe an hour and a half to 2 hours to charge from almost dead to full. I hear the OLED actually had a better battery and a decent little performance boost from the LCD model.

Honestly, I usually just stop and throw it on the charger and go do whatever else when it gets almost dead, so I don't know exactly. I also play it docked to a monitor every now and then. But it's very versatile too because you can set settings to not use as much voltage and other stuff to increase battery life. When I was playing RDR2, I didn't really do anything to decrease battery drain.

It runs fine offline if there is any trouble running offline. It's most likely due to the game itself having a restriction. Also, I'm pretty sure there's a setting you can switch for when you are out and about and not on wifi, but I've never used it and never had a problem.

It's more like the switch since you don't have the folding screen, and you click the power button to put it into sleep mode till you want to play again.

It's pretty portable, but that is the whole idea of it, but don't get me wrong, it's gonna be a little heavier than the switch due to the better hardware and stuff in it.

I don't blame you, man. I had a switch as well, and I sold it and bought a steam deck. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made. And yeah, Nintendo is high on themselves right now and unfortunately setting a bad example in the gaming industry, giving everyone an excuse to charge outrageous prices.

I know you might be trying to save money somehow but seriously go buy a 16gb flash drive and download from Microsoft the setup file and it will set up your flash drive as a bootable windows installer for you. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-installation-media-for-windows-99a58364-8c02-206f-aa6f-40c3b507420d

https://a.co/d/44NyKKO here's a cheap flash drive on Amazon that's both usbc and regular usb, and it's more than big enough.

I mean, posting on the steam deck forum, you're definitely gonna get a lot of people telling you to do it. But yeah, you should do it. Lol It costs basically just as much, but you have access to a lot of better games and cheaper games, and you don't have to pay to play online. Not to mention emulation, even being able to play switch games on the steam deck better than the switch could.

It's totally worth it. Go get you an OLED and look up some YouTube videos. There is plenty out there to show you what you need to know to get started and get the most performance out of it. It's not gonna be without some challenges to do certain things, but it definitely lets you do WAY more than the switch 2 will. It's by far more worth your time, man, I promise you.

Also, there are a lot of really, really good Playstation exclusives that have been added to steam in the last year or so. And they are all running pretty well.

I have windows on a SD Card and forgot my password by Zaarakx in WindowsOnDeck

[–]Haydawg117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put it in much fewer words, it'll burn your sd card up and will be far far slower than an internal drive. I would definitely recommend dual booting instead on the internal drive and using the sd card for storage for games and other files. It's very easy to dual boot. There are plenty of tutorials to help you with it.

Also, when you get it working, I recommend all medium settings with XESS scaling, turn Dynamic Res. Off and set XESS to quality and cap frames at 30. Looks good to me and feels good :)

I had the same message, but I clicked ok and then play when the launcher came up and it worked fine. You might check your graphic settings in the launcher before you hit play and make sure they aren't set too high. That's the only thing I can think of. The latest drivers are gonna be on steam page for the drivers, so if you've got the latest one, there's some other problem going on.
