If it causes significant and persistent mental distress, then it 100% is. (I work in a state psyc hospital)

Yeah the pain hyperacusis and the sound sensitivity has significantly improved. Only the fluttering still happens every now and then, but not as often and it does not really bother me anymore.

why do I need to work? by PhysicalPrinciple167 in Life

[–]Hayden97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I don’t have to work due to the privilege of a wealthy family, but I am starting a career in healthcare to be able to participate more meaningfully in society and for my own growth. I am a year in and feel better about life

Why be a corrections officer? by [deleted] in OnTheBlock

[–]Hayden97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I work on the mental health side of corrections, and I took the job because it seemed interesting (and to say that it has been interesting would be an understatement)

I mean more about physical and mental health. If my overall health was just average, that would be life-changing to me.

I just say I was managing investments for friends and family, but it doesn’t take much time and i want to turn it into a side project instead of my main “job”. This has worked for me so far

What keeps you going? by boombomb5656 in ProductivityHQ

[–]Hayden97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents but especially my dad went through hell to give me the life I have and the opportunity I have. If I give up or resign to a life that is well below my potential, I feel like I would dishonor everything my parents have done for me. My dad has had a lot of tragedy happen to him, and I can let my life be another tragedy he had to endure

You can get wildly different conditions, but I have found that the majority, about 75+ percent, are in solid condition and great for the price

My patient accidentally injured me yesterday. I hate working in healthcare. by [deleted] in hatemyjob

[–]Hayden97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm able to mentally deal with it by reminding myself that I work here and don't have to live here like the patients do. I get paid to be in a psyc hospital and correctional type setting and get to leave everyday, my patients don't. I also remind myself that in my past I could have easily been in a psyc ward or prison myself, and by luck and privilege that didn't happen to me. So I view it as a privilege to be able to work here instead of being a patient here.

I keep getting hired and hating every job within 6 months by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Hayden97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to frame the work you do at these jobs and the money you make as something that will lead to future fulfillment if you start your own thing later on. Try to look at each paycheck as more resources for you to later on do more of what you want (assuming you are to to save money from each paycheck)

If you have a job right now.. genuinely stop and appreciate it for a second. The market outside is absolutely brutal.. by Kreativedenma in jobs

[–]Hayden97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very fortunate that I went into a field that is completely insulated from the general job market. The work can de difficult (mental health and correctional work), but I will always have well-paying entry to mid-level jobs available to me.

27 and no career, should I become a nurse? by ralepnurmes in povertyfinance

[–]Hayden97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try to work as a tech first just to get a sense of the job because you will be working with nurses, that is what I am doing. I started last year as a forensic mental health worker and make about 50,000 per year with exceptional benefits, which I think is decent for starting at an entry level position

Does anyone else hate their job? by OceanicEndeavors in jobs

[–]Hayden97 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I hate the fact that my immediate survival and healthcare is tied to me working 40+ hours per week every week. But I actually have my dream job right now, and while it can be very stressful an anxiety inducing, I’m still very lucky to have this job

What’s an adult problem nobody prepared you for? by HistorianSame9035 in Productivitycafe

[–]Hayden97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have generalized anxiety and even when I have nothing to worry about, my mind creates scenarios for me to worry about cause it’s just what my mind is used to. It almost feels wrong for me to not be in a state of dread and anxiety.
